Christian music can be funky Hi, everyone if your a christian, and like R&B/Hip Hop music may I suggest some albums I have.
Crew 1 Group, this music group just released their first album late last year,my favorite on this one is the song "No plan B" ( this one is about putting trust in God, with all trust in him, we do not need a plan B, because he has us covered.) Toby Mac, Diverse City/ and his new one "Portable Sounds" he has the hip hop sound down, I love his music. Have yet to get DC Talk albums. Reggae Priase this album is self titled, very unique album raggae with christian lyrics, very good..... Kirk Franklin "Hero" J Moss "J Moss Project" Mary Mary self titled album And for those into hard rock: Petra I have just started to listen to their music, they have very good lyrics. Switchfoot Kutless White Heart Christianbooks.com is a website that has all these albums to listen to before buying, and of course other albums you may want to check out. | |

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

As I've stated before on the org, some of the funkiest musicians you'll find are in gospel music. I've played a lot of secular and non-secular gigs, and I have to say, sometimes I have more freedom playing gospel. And don't let someone get caught up in the spirit - you then have permission to JAM!!! 
It's amazing how things change - when I was a young'un singing on the choir, we had cats like CeCe Rogers funkin' things up (he even had us doing a funked-up version of "When the Saints Go Marching In), the older folks hated it. i like a few of denice williams gospel songs... honestly i don't really like too much christian music... but i listen to it at church... and when I need to hear a message.... or to get that kind of music in my spirit....
its not good to listen to certain types of music... like rap, satanic rock music that will get into your spirit |

Modern day christian music is pretty funky. James Brown and George Clinton have been sampled in a few gospel songs. Besides, I don't know how many of u go 2 church, but a lot of church musicians tend to get funky on Sunday's. I'll never forget hearing Cameo's Shake Your Pants re-worked as a christian song. You turned me off when you listed the /Hip Hop. But seriously, any form of music can be funky as long as you got funky people making it. I would love to see more funky gospel music.....I might go to church more often with my hethen self. Speaking of a hip hop gospel song though, I absolutely love MC Hammer's "Do Not Pass Me By".Andy is a four letter word. | |

I hate to say it, but beyond experiencing its energy while actually in church, I don't like the sound or conventions of most contemporary gospel music I hear. I prefer the old school: Mahalia Jackson, old Al Green or Aretha, James Cleveland... or even older standards the likes of which we find in the Negro spiritual or white southern rural traditions. I just feel the soul of that stuff more. And then there is even older ecclesial stuff that I really enjoy, like old Irish religious ballads, baroque organ work and ancient choral music. (I could jam on "Laudate Dominum" much harder than "Stomp." )
There is some contemporary work I can't slough off, though -- Yolanda Adams, for example, is extraordinary. And I like the pop accessibility of dc Talk and certain secular bands who occassionally wax spiritual. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I love modern christian music, but my heart tends to only get MORE inspiration for a good James Cleveland song (especially Peace Be Still). I like Kirk, J.
