I've never watch it before, and I have been put off by the negative reviews. However, if it were to come on TV one afternoon I wouldn't mind watching for the song "Do You know where your going to" alone.

they play that song all throughout the film.By the time it ends, you'll be screaming "YES,I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING TO!" lol

Seriously, don't let the bad reviews keep you away.I consider this movie to be Diana's "Cherry Moon".....an entertaining little movie that was (unfairly) killed by the critics.

I love it, especially the wildness about it.....the fashion, the parties, the beautiful people. I've always wanted to live "The Glamorous Life". That bitch was crazy as hell for giving it all up for some man. Hell, keep the job....you can find some dick anywhere. If she had any sense, she would have stayed with those wrinkled old dicks for the money and got her some good dick on the side. lol

falloff

I once read a review where the critic said that the ending is "sexist"....SHE gives up her dreams to support HIM and HIS dreams hmmm I'd like to think that, when she got back to Chicago, she simply continued her career in Chicago, while being the girlfriend of a Congressman. Why can't she do both?

Its a Diana Ross flick for god's sakes,,,I don't know what did they expect disbelief it ain't like you were holding your breath for an artsy-craftsy movie with subtle signals, I mean really lol

I watched this movie for the VERY 1st time when that remastered DVD came out, and like whatsgoingon I was put off by what I read from people(mostly becoz I hated how they butchered Billie Holiday's storylife in Lady Sings The Blues).

But when I saw this, I was SOLD for good. It became one of my favorite cult-diva themed movies(Like Mommie Dearest, Sunset Blvd, Victor, Funny Girl/Lady).

whatsgoingon, I don't think you have anything to lose,,,,,a try won't kill you nod

I always though ole Billie Dee was fine. I didn't like his natural hair in that movie though. I like Billie with his suave wavy hair. I wouldn't go live in no ghetto with him though, not matter what he looked like. I would sleep with him and send his ass back to the ghetto while I went back to my mansion with some old trick. lol

spit Unh uh!! You so crazy!!! falloff Honest but crazy as hell! lol

I haven't seen "Mahogany" in ages. Used to watch that all the time on HBO when I was a kid. Classic. No better or worse than "Lady Sings The Blues". I read somewhere, long ago that the filming of "Mahogany" wasn't actually finished. The story goes... Princess Di stormed off the set one day and never returned. Leaving Berry Gordy no choice but to piece together what he had. Any truth to this?
