I think he can sing higher than Kate!!
But yes that was great! But can somebody tell me a little more about that performance? When/where, etc? "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

His version kicks Kate's version's ass easily. He put soul in it. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

I agree. I don't even listen to Kate's anymore after his. love is a fate resigned memories mar my mind love it is a fate resigned Over futile odds and laughed at by the Gods and now the final frame Love is a losing game

Always loved this rendition. Maxwell looks like predator when he takes his mask off here though.

Kate's version sounds very wooden and emotionless. Maxy owns it and makes it his. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

But yes that was great! But can somebody tell me a little more about that performance? When/where, etc? MTV unplugged... I like Maxwell's version more than Kate's. With all do respect to Kate Bush, Maxwell really did sing it like it was his. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Awe nice, I have heard and watched this like 100 million times in the past and it is always so nice to see again. I love Maxwell's vocals and pretty much anything he has sang. I have all his released music and I am so bummed he has not released anything new lately.

Most people would never have even heard this song if Maxwell didn't cover it.
Kate Bush is not exactly my cup of tea, and radio doesn't play her here in the U.S. I do like her version, but Maxwell took the song there. So for me MAXWELL all the way.

If you think it has soul then that's your opinion. To me, she sounds wooden and emotionless. Case closed. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

LMFAO ditto...not sure what mutha is smoking to think that but kate's version is anything but wooden or emotionless IMHO. i like both version and don't need to discredit one over the other to enjoy them. Space for sale...

I don't feel any "soul" in hers that's all. Maxwell swoons it and soulifies it much better than she did. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

Soul as in r&b swagger or as in an emotional pull? because to my ears i hear the struggle of woman...the ending is heartbreaking...but if you prefer soulful r&b malaise then i can understand why you would prefer maxwells...but to say her version doesn't have soul? Space for sale...

Both "soul" as swagger and as feeling. And I just don't feel it from her. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

there's a personal quality in kate's version that could only come from the one who penned it.
P.S.=> listen to kate's "song of solomon" and tell me she aint got soul.
