There has been a lot reports on their relationship and how Jeffrey used to slap Stephanie a lot. I think they were married for three years. Ironically, Jeffrey was the one who taught Mike the moonwalk and also was one of his backup dancers on the "Bad" tour. Wow... To be honest, I had no idea she was once married to Jeffrey Daniels. Too bad he was such a jerk.

Speaking of Jeffrey Daniels, there was this old Jet magazine article where it described the nature of his abuse against Stephanie.
At some point he tried to throw her outta of a SPEEDING car I knew the pain in her voice during that era didn't came outta nowhere. She, Miki Howard and Angela Winbush have seen some rough shit during their heyday, I'm sad that they'll have to look back and have a somewhat of a complex memory of their successful years. The ONE person who never struck me as an abused victim is Phylicia Rashad, when I heard that she was a drug partner with her then husband(the guy from the Village people) and that he whooped her ass like its punching bag, my 1st impression was like "NOT CLAIRE! ". [Edited 9/3/07 12:16pm]

I can't believe someone that looked so gentle could be so abusive. [Edited 9/3/07 12:22pm]

I often wonder how their chemisty onstage would've been. As you know, Diana Ross got her out from doing Dorothy in the film version of "The Wiz". Imagine getting acquainted with one Dorothy and then find yourself in the film with a Dorothy you knew since childhood. Funny f*cking paradox. What's funny is with these pictures Michael looks so much more geniune and relax with Stephanie than he ever did with pictures of Lisa Marie or Debbie Rowe. whatsgoingon said: But that's still different from saying that he could never go "near a black woman". That is being too presumptious because at the end of the day we do NOT know Michael personally, Stephanie Mills does know him personally, so for someone like Midnightmover to come and claim she is "tripping" because she said something completley contrary to his whole belief of Michael Jackson is more about Midnightmover own assumptions than anything else. It's almost like he is angry because she didn't say what was expected.
I can't speak for mightnightmover, but it seems like (s)he is discussing two arguments that connect only in certain tangents: 1.) Stephanie Mills' implying that her going out with Michael Jackson was more of a case of intimate interplay than casual relationship/hanging out. 2.) At some point in his life, MJ's alleged racial complex started kicking in. This is purely speculation, but I'll play devil's advocate: Isn't it possible that MJ's race issues kicked in during his goings-out with Mills? Listen to Mills' comments during that interview. "I was his only little chocolate drop...I thought I was going to marry Michael but you know, I'm a little too dark for him." Again, you don't know WHEN Mills came to that conclusion but it very obvious that she feels MJ's dating preferences are toward white women. Moreover, this is the closest thing I've heard in the past 25-plus years that gives an idea why this "hot romance" broke off. In fact and I know I may get it from some of y'all but I prefer "Home" over "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as the ultimate anthem of any version of the "Wizard of Oz" any damn day of the week. Same goes for "Ease On Down the Road".
I love all the versions of "Home" actually: Stephanie, Diane and Whitney tore that sucka up in their own ways.

No one is calling Stephanie Mills a liar -- just that she apparently is playing with the context of the terms to paint a more intimate, personal relationship than what it really was. Defying Gravity is the THEME for any Oz story True... actually most of the original songs from the "Wizard of Oz" are very corny compared to "The Wiz": "Be a Lion", "Soon as I Get Home", "Don't Give Me No Bad News", "Everybody Rejoice (Brand New Day)" (the LUTHER song )... there was just more grit and soul... OBVIOUSLY! Oh and "You Can't Win" is still BOSS! In the movie version, Mike tore that sucka up!

Also he wasn't having to pretend to be in love with her, like he was with the other two. It's obvious they're just two friends hanging out. Probably if she hadn't had the hots for him they could have stayed friends. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Judy was a BEAST of a vocalist, you could tell that she had it rough too I was shocked when I saw her A&E biography(its on youtube btw) the way the network forced her to take pills early @ her career to cope with the pressure of making a 20, 30 movie per year That bullshit led to her demise.

I don't have a problem with what your saying, you think she made it more serious than it was. I didn't get that vibe from her personally. She wasn't over elaborate about the relationship, she admitted they never had sex. She actually didn't go into that much details. I do however personally believe some people have a problem with the fact that she said they kissed and he was a "good kisser" and I think that's the part some people can't believe and more so they can't believe it because she is a black woman.
