Edith Piaf. Torch singer; amazing. See the movie too. Heartbreaking beautiful.

Jaques Brel, even though from good ole België, also a great artist; his songs are revered by Bono and David Bowie.

Wanna go funky? Go for Sinclair. Esp his La Bonne Attitude, love, love, love it.

April March - Chick Habit EP is sung entirely in French (except for the title track which also appears in English.) It's great, sunny 60s-style French pop. Highly recommended.

And don't forget the Plastic Bertrand!

The location says L.A, but she's French.

AMEN.

nod @ both of you.

I liked a song by Mark Farina called "Dream Machine (Downtempo Mix)." I got it off of one of those comps.
