It was a decent episode. The Sheena Easton songs were great. The Mary Jane Girls so were OK. The songs played for the dancers were decent. I see Don prefers the dub version of Shannon's "Do You Wanna Get Away" like I do. A lot of the female dancers in this episode were still stiff, although some of them could get down. This episode was decent but not great.

Go back to the damn 70s. lol

The Mary Jane Girls were cool.I especially like the fact that they came back and performed "Shadow Lover",one of my favorite songs by them.It should have been a single! Sheena Easton was okay.

Overall,a pretty boring episode.I agree with Vainandy....go back to the 70s!!

The first two songs they played were garbage barf over-synthesized crap pop/dance songs that have nothing to do with "soul".I hate "Sussudio"!

Though Shadow Lover" wasn't a single. It did get a lot of airplay on r&b stations, especially during the "quiet storm" shows.

Today's episode was sooooo hit and miss. You could tell that they were really losing the "soul" in Soul Train. Come on, the Shannon song was a pure club song. Susudio was one of the popest trax ever.

One thing I did learn today was that Prince laid down the track for "Sugar Walls" and produced Sheena's vocals. It is not noted that way in the album credits. They credit Greg Mathison for the production.

The former Earth Wind & Fire horn section (The Phoenix Horns) were now working for Phil Collins around the time of the release of the No Jackets Required album.

I dug the mary jane girls and the dance line with material things.
The commodores song while well written, the video was pretty shitty and
the lionel richieless commodores looked shitty trying to do that line dance
with the white commander jackets.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

okay i finally stayed up until like 2 am to watch soul train.. and saw the Mary jane girls... they looked very old... and prince's girls were a little bit more sexy....

sheena easton.. didn't seem to have any kind of special presence about her... something about her was strange...

and it was my first time hearing the song (actually i was in the car with my mom like a week ago..and she tried to turn on the radio.. i heard a song that sounded like prince... so i asked to keep it on.. but she turned the sation and i could not understand why... but i did remember the ladying saying sugar wall...)..

you guys...when she said blood rushes to his private part... im almost fainted of laughter... i just can't believe those lyrics.... I understand why my mom turned that off... lol lol lol its just a nasty song...

back to the dancers.... i have a question???? Why Why Why did that guy in the black dance around the stage like he owned the show... and why did that other guy dance with some robot....

Those lyrics are funny to me lol

blood races to your private spots
lets me know that there's a fire
You can't fight passion when passion is hot
temperatures rise inside my sugar walls

it's supposed to sound sexy and provocative, but somehow, those lyrics sound kinda awkward and silly lol I still love the song, though
