Stop blaming Beyonce for OVEREXPOSURE

Can we officially end this talk on Overexposure already? If you dont like her thats one thing, say it like that, but there are countless artists that have had the run she is having right now, and by that i mean, where "you are the shit" and really you cant blame ANYONE for riding it. Here are some other examples...

Prince- in the years between 1983-1987
Madonna- in the years between 1984-1988
Stevie Wonder- in the 70's
Elton John- during the time of 1970-1976 had 17 albums
the Beatles- need we even say it
Mariah Carey- from 1990-1997 at least 1 album per year
Bruce Springsteen- lets not talk how long Born in the usa had its run
Rick Springfield- 1981-1985 16 straight top 40 hits
Barry Manilow,Billy Joel- both unstoppable through most of the 70's
Jennifer Lopez- 1999-2004 basically captured music, film
the Bee Gees- UNSTOPPABLE during 1975-1979
Britney Spears- basically 1998-2003
Elvis,James,Aretha,Diana etc....

My point is everyone has that RUN where they are in demand, from their label, media, and just in general they are on a roll where they have to keep it going, but YES as with everyone it does end, but it doesnt mean that person is FINISHED, almost always if you can maintain a run like that, you pretty have a loyal following that will stay with you if you keep on with doing music, movies whatever. So Beyonce is just another on this list of artists

Lord I remember when Jennifer Lopez was everywhere. It was like a waking nightmare. She was every TV channel, every magazine cover, every movie theater and radio station.

I like her much better now since I don't see her as much.

So it cleared the dance floor, huh? Hmmm...some posters at Youtube like it, but they're probably her lunatic fans.

Only in America can folks with little talent become set for life. I'm amazed people are still into her - can't sing(in two languages) and is only a mediocre actress.

I didnt mind her, but now oh my god i do.

Shes in all these endorsements L'Oreal, Tommy,
Pepsi, Ford, Wal-Mart, Armani, McDonalds and much more.
Shes everywhere she dosnt even use most of the produce shes selling.
Shes also got an allergy of perfumes and she poses for two fragrances.

It seems now her music and videos work as adverts. Her music is second grade and the promotions come first.

I am blaming Beyonce for her OVEREXPOSURE, its with her hands shes signed the dotted line.

I wouldn't blame her for overexposure. She's getting hers while the getting is good. I might not like it, or choose to patronize it.

YOu know what the difference is between Beyonce's run now and those artists' runs back then? They actually had competition and there were MANY artists who were big and were everywhere. But now, she and Justin Timberlake are about it. I don't even see 50 Cent around as much as these two. And the competition between these artists meant better music for the fans. But not now. She can release bullshit like "Check Up On It" and people eat it up because when the pickings are slim, chuck burgers taste like steak.

You like her and that's fine, but you can't deny that the woman is everywhere, basically whoring herself out to whatever company will pay her money. She's not a legit artist because her "art" is secondary to her getting paid. She could be juggling for all she cares, it's just that she sees that music is the thing that will set her up the easiest.

That's part of the problem with the hip hop generation of "artists." For so many of them, music is just a springboard to other things. Just a way to get paid and have an easy in for a clothing line or for endorsements or acting roles. She might as well just be a basketball player. At least the basketball players spend time on their occupation and make that the focus of their careers.

Beyonce is on that road to overexposure, although I don't think she's quite at the Jennifer Lopez level. YET.

I mean, now besides taking over VH1 Soul, BET and the 12 videos they show on MTV,she's all over my magazines, on the movie screen (taking up space with her mediocre performances) and all over my radio--in two languages. Next thing you know she's gonna be releasing CD's in Russian and Chinese.

Can't you see it now:

That's not true. When I met her in LA, she CLEARLY was wearing her "True Star" perfume that was out at the time. You could smell it on her.

I don't watch music videos or listen to radio -- so I can't agree how "overexposed" she is. The only time I hear about Beyonce ALOT is on these messageboards & blogs that are always talking about her.

Fair enough. But in the past we werent inundated with celebities through the types of media we have now, with the information superhighway and advances in video and computer technology. There's no escaping these artists today. They endorse everything under the sun on television, people have their ringtones on cel phones in subways. Every time you turn on your computer the news outlets are reporting when and if they've farted in public via Perez Hilton and TMZ. By the time they exit a building somebody's already found out what deal they just inked inside and how much they're getting for it. I really miss the old days when we didn't have every digit of an artists worth down to practically the last number, and I didn't have to see them on the packaging of my Dark & Lovely perm box. I miss the old days where, even if an artist was still putting out material, you just didn't see them EVERYWHERE, doing everything. Back in the day you might get a couple of appearances on network tv , and given your musical genre, (if you even gave interviews at all) an article in R.S. Spin, Jet Magazine, or Right On and that was IT. It was almost as if they were away for a spell and it gave audiences a chance to miss them for a minute and have something to be excited about when they poked their heads outside again, records released or not...

But why blame her for the lack of talent thats out there? She cant be held responsible for her surroundings. All the artists on that list i like, and i experienced most of their RUNS so i clearly know the way it happens and then of course comes the Backlash where everyone hates you, i mean Mariah Carey had it during 2001-2003 where radio refused to even play her or consider playing her because they thought she was "taboo", now they are back on her like flies on shit. You also cant really blame her for getting what she wants, the fact of the matter is, that Music as a form of living your life just doesnt cut it anymore. Sure in the past it has been enough, but with all these major corporations and investments, if you wanna even be able to be heard you have to have endorsement deals etc.. I mean everyone from Gwen Stefani to Hilary Duff to Jlo to Prince to Mariah has perfume or clothing or something on the side.the reality of it is, times have changed, surely not for the better, but thats the way it is, the sad thing is that almost none of those artists i mentioned from the past could even have a run or probably be signed today, yes thats very sad.

All of those artists i mentioned would have been doing that in a second if that crap existed back then.

But there again she did not create the media, Are you trying to tell me if Diana Ross was rolling in these times her face wouldnt be everywhere and she wouldnt be endorsing everything under the sun. All of those artists i mentioned would have been doing that in a second if that crap existed back then.

And if the internet was around back then, they would have gotten talked about just like Beyonce.

Good point. But I am afraid I do not like her music, hence the irritation at her overexposure.

Well thats cool, this post isnt really about like or dislike. Its more about how artists always have this kind of RUN where they are everywhere, the difference in this decade is all the media outlets, magazines etc.. so there are more avenues. Back in the 80's-90's Mtv handled that, but now MTV doesnt exist, or at least it doesnt showcase music so artists have to go elsewhere to be heard or seen.

Yes, I agree. Artists have their run when they are everywhere.

Correction she wasnt everywhere till the run began and why, well no competition, not her fault. If these mediums didnt exist like the net, endorsments and if Music was marketed like it used to be back in any other decade since this one, then im sure things would be different for Beyonce, im sure she would just be performing and you wouldnt have to worry about looking in a magazine and seeing her there or on commercials, etc.. But i think the music consumer who wants this advancement to Digital technology and all that stuff, really have to share the blame here. We cant just say im tired of her being everywhere, but then constantly wanting these technology advancements.
