Janet talks to MTV

Janet talks to MTV about her upcoming album

A video of Janet and Jermaine Dupri speaking with MTV about her upcoming album has been posted on MTV's website.

Janet confirmed that "there is a possibility" that she may be working with Ne-Yo on the album.

When asked how far she has gotten into the recording process, Janet responded that she is "just in the beginning stages." Dupri, however, contradicted her and said that she has been recording music "everyday" and the album will be coming out "soon."

Yeah, that’s the footage where I thought she looked even better than the still pics. I love the way she looks at JD, standing by and supporting her man. All love and whatnot.

neutral It may not be. She said she wanted her album to be dark. THE VELVET ROPE comes to mind, to me.

For the very first time, I'm not excited about this next album. She seems to wrapped up in hip hop thanks to that troll of a boyfriend she has. She's too blind to see that her best music was with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. They brought out the best in her and she actually sang. These new folk don't have a clue and the next CD will go lead just like 20 Y.O. did. It's a damn shame too. sad neutral disbelief

Damn it, Janet Jackson. Be in control of your career for once in your life. Do not let your father, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Rene, and Jermaine control it! Is Jermaine Dupri your babysitter? Why does he have to contradict your statements? Be your own woman!

I agree. But it is exasperating to read that Jermaine is still influencing her.

i remember when that album came out... i was too excited to get it... I couldn't wait for it... and i was at my janet jackson peak.... i was janet crazy.... that is really her last best album... i like 20 Y.O but it can't compare to AFY....

i wish janet would go back to her pop/dance roots.. and leave these young hip-hop artist producers alone.... it already looks like an album im not going to enjoy.... and by the way.. I dont' like NEYO... so if he's producing a song... thats already bad news to my ears

I think Jam and Lewis' sound has grown stale boxed If Janet really wanted to make a change, she would abandon R&B altogether and go for a an edgier pop sound.

Yeah,Janet really needs to tell him to STAY AWAY from her career lol He's part of the reason why her last two albums flopped. He wants to turn her into an R&B urban princess, but Janet doesn't seem comfortable in that role.

Hey, whatever happened to that super-hot track she was supposedly doing for Rush Hour 3 that was supposed to be the comeback-of-all-time summer single for her? Did that ever happen? lol

maybe some people should reserve judment and actually watch the interview.she was deffintyl giving that guy a major attuide and it just looked like Jermaine was trying to smooth things over . I think Janet is more in control than people think.

Janet is tied with R kelly for the most number 1 , she it seems she was a urban princess along. and Jermaine had nothing to do with Damita Jo and if I remeber correlty "just a little while " didn't really go over to while and that was as pop as you could go.

pop has abonned her just like they do with the other artists over 40,she do better with an rnb sound because they are still willing to support her.

I understand...why she wants to break loose, but she is gonna lose her hardcore fan base in the process.

SHE TALKED 2 MTV?

I thought they BANNED her???

Anyway 20 YO was good 2 me...it lacked personality though (except for Take Care maybe). Songs like Free Xone, The Knowledge, What About, New Agenda, Anytime Anyplace had bold character..something that is lacking in her recent put out.

Hip-Hop/R&B is the wrong road to go in2 now for black women. Rhianna has been ranking it in being different. How come other girls can't see this?

20 Y.O. has a tired hip-hop sound. I hope that this upcoming album will be better.

Allot of folks refuse to believe that, due to simply not wanting to. Any pot shots some can take at JD, they will. Janet's striving, but to them it simply isn't good enough. Some actually don't have any thing better to do than to lay in wait for her to fail. It's sad, really. But, again I'm one of the ones who'll reserve judgement. I wish her well and much success. I won't shit on nothing I haven't heard yet.

And then there are those of us that really wish she would succeed at something, anything. But we can recall too well when she did, and did it with a product and a personality that was enjoyable. A lot of us have just given up after hearing the same tired fucking album and tired fucking interviews year after year. sad

Why would a 40 year old person watch MTV for even five minutes, let alone talk to the network? I guess she's got a lot of her brother's blood in her. She likes to hang out with children.
