Underrated band: Jellyfish

I'd like to point the Org's attention to a band that never gets mentioned here:

Jellyfish

I discovered this band through some friends of mine that played me some stuff by this band. At first I wasn't instantly impressed but gradually I began to like some of the stuff. I had heard the song "He's My Best Friend" in the movie Threesome and kinda liked what I heard but eventually I bought their "Best Of" CD from 2006 and I'm really digging this band at the moment. Their sound is a mixture of the Beatles, Supertramp, Beach Boys, Queen and many other bands with a heavy dose of power-pop influences like Badfinger. They only made two albums in the early 90s before they split up in 1994. For those interested in everything connected to Prince should know that this band can be linked to Prince by one thing: The guitarist on their first album, Jason Falkner, performed and wrote stuff on Three O' Clock's album on Paisley Park Records. One really unique thing about this band: The drummer is the singer! biggrin

There is one Myspace site that is approved by the lead singer Andy Sturmer and it features some of their greatest songs: http://www.myspace.com/jellyfishband

And here are some nice Youtube clips:

The Ghost at Number 1 (Live on TV)

The King Is Half-Undressed

New Mistake

He's My Best Friend (live on German TV)

Bye, Bye, Bye (live on TV)

Another Big Jellyfish fan here!

It really is a shame they only did the two albums. Spilt Milk is one of the best albums of the nineties IMHO.

If you haven't done so already, the Imperial Drag album is well worth checking out too.
