Appreciation for Randy Crawford

People talk about Aretha, Glady, Patti and even the likes of Diana Ross, but it's really rare to hear Randy Crawford name mentioned. She has a great voice and even though I only have two of her albums; Secret Combination and A greatest hit album, she is a wonderful, wonderful singer both live and on record that doesn't get enough recognition.

My favourite songs from her;

Bring The Sun Out
Street Life (With The Crusaders)
One Day I Will Fly Away
Almaz
Secret Combination

COLD! biggrin I don't have anything by her but I'm always glad to see her name pop up performing somewhere & that she's been able to keep her career steady. Though I don't actively participate (via buying it) I do appreciate her as an artist smile

I see everyone has left out her 1984 duet "TAXI DANCING" with Rick Springfield, from the movie Hard To Hold.

Rio De Janeiro Blues is one of the best songs of all time - u certainly have taste!

Everything Randy has recorded is classic - I too am amazed that her vocal prowess rarely gets mentioned considering that at the time she was at her peak in the early 80s, she got a lot of attention. I was really impressed to see some young girl covering 'Almaz' on the X Factor auditions the other week - some kids out there still have taste!

Really recommend the 'Now we may begin' and 'Secret combination' albums for first-time fans although the latest compilation 'The Ultimate Randy' is well worth it considering it has the original Crusaders version of 'Street life.'

My all-time favourite has to be her version of 'Rainy night in georgia' for sentimental reasons AND in particular for being one of the songs that reminds me of a very good holiday in London one year.

Bette Midler also recorded "When your life was love", although it can`t compare to Crawford`s version.

peppeken

she also does a great version of 'cajun moon' , 'give me the night' and 'purple rain' on a cd she released about 10 years ago called 'naked and true'.

I had tickets for her concert in Dublin some years back...but she cancelled sad

SoulAlive

I remember years ago,my father had one of her tapes and he always played it in his car.I'm looking for a specific song by her,it was on that tape.I can't recall the name of the song, but in the chorus, she asks...

wasn't I cute enough?

Anyone know the title of this song? hmmm
