Christian Scott - Anthem

...Anthem Promo Clip

New York, NY – Grammy nominated trumpeter Christian Scott makes an appearance on the critically acclaimed new album from Prince, Planet Earth, which was released on July 24, 2007. Christian appears on the track “Somewhere Here on Earth” which has been a stand out in reviews from both the critics and fans. Prince was first introduced to Christian’s music by talk show/radio host Tavis Smiley. He quickly became a fan and contacted Christian. Shortly there after Christian was on a plane and in the studio with Prince recording music for what would be Planet Earth, as well as performing some of the new material live on stage with Prince at his venue in Las Vegas, 3121 in the Rio Hotel.

The appearance on Prince’s album comes just a month before Concord Records will release Christian’s sophomore album, Anthem. Hitting stores on August 28, Anthem is a powerful collection of 12 tracks teeming with jazz, fusion, rock, neo-soul and hip-hop. The tracks on the album give us a taste of Christian’s hometown, New Orleans, and the havoc wreaked by Hurricane Katrina, however it also reflects the many changes Scott has gone through since releasing his debut album, Rewind That. Released on March 28, 2006, Rewind That received rave reviews from the press. Billboard Magazine named him one of the “Top Ten to Watch in 2006.” The LA Daily News raved, “The major-label debut from this jazz trumpeter has been generating no small amount of hype – and in this case, the accolades are deserved. Rewind That is the real deal.”

He's got great tone and the compositions sound modern even when using traditional Jazz themes.
I hear traces of the cooler side of Prof's playing.

For L.A. residents, Christian Scott will be appearing at the Catalina Jazz Club on Sept. 6th through 8th.

Unfortunately i'm already booked for Soulive on the 6th and will be on a cruise the rest of the weekend...wall

If Soulive didn't have an opening act that night, i'd consider leaving their gig early and catching Christian Scott's second show at Catalina.

Oh...Miłego dnia!... smile

Cudownego urlopu....

If nothing else I can now communicate with you know who....not something I was aspiring towards, but "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

God sends us all our challenges and opportunities (at least that is what my Mom tells me tease)

Hopefully you know who will not sic one of her relatives on me whilst I am in Poland and I end up in the bottom of a lake in concrete shoes. sad

Depending upon when Soulive ends, if Christian Scott is a true jazz musician, his gig could go into the early hours of the AM.....just a thought....

Hey....I have a plan: you go to Poland to work and I will go to see Soulive and enjoy the cruise....hmmmmm

hug

I listened to some of Christian Scott off the internet....I think I'm buying his CD....very nice stuff, and you are right, a bit of the Prof shows through...
