I don't think he has a contemporary parallel. Hmm. I miss the "peak" Bobby.

Although I've tried, I'm honestly not a fan of Chris Brown's music. But I don't know...it seems that those of U that replied haven't seen Chris Brown on stage lately. From what I've seen recently this year, he is becoming just like Bobby Brown in my opinion. Those "mama's boy" days seem to be over. LOL. Don't think of the 16 year-old...I'm talking about the new 18 year-old Chris Brown. Just think of the drastic change from New Edition Bobby to 18 year-old solo Bobby. LOL.

From pictures and short clips I've seen online, Chris pumps, grinds, and performs shirtless while jumping all over the stage now, just like I remember Bobby used to. His vocal style even reminds me of Bobby. I know he's trying to sound like 16 year-old Michael Jackson, but it's not coming out that way to me. And just wait until his next album this year. U'll see. LOL. I've read on some blogs that he's going to be singing much more "mature" songs all of a sudden. They're gonna change and start calling Chris the new "King Of Stage" rather than the new "King Of Pop." Ha ha....




And all of 'em (Usher, Chris, Omarion, etc) wanted/want to be Michael Jackson. That's quite clear. LOL. They want it so bad they become little impersonators. But like Usher doesn't make me think of Bobby, Chris Brown does not make me think of MJ....unless I'm watching his rip-off video of Smooth Criminal, his new rip-off video of Thriller ( ), or his WMA performance of Thriller (which was good, but, meh.....). So far, Chris Brown's stage persona is way too wild and somewhat goofy (just like Bobby Brown) to be anything like Michael Jackson without impersonation. LOL. But hey, this is just my observation.

But in terms of Bobby himself, I used to be a big fan of his music when I was little. I LOVE his second solo album. Almost every song on "Don't Be Cruel" is fantastic to me...maybe 'cause Babyface produced most of the songs....but Bobby was still great that year.

Bobby is not a great singer but he was/is a great dancer/ great performer. It's too bad his personal life has completely overshadowed his career in the past years but I still listen to his "Don't Be Cruel" album often. I love almost every song on there .
