All I can say is, "You Pulled a Switch" smile

Classic stuff. Bobby Debarge's voice, to me, was more angelic than his younger brother's El's. Just beautiful songs with awesome vocals and real instruments.

I'm surprised there haven't been more replies to this thread sad

Also, this (the Switch affiliation) might be the best post-Jackson 5 thing Jermain Jackson has ever done (besides Let's Get Serious and Let Me Tickle Your Fancy).

Switch is a cool group. They had some great songs. Jermaine Jackson discovered them sometime in 1975. He also produced a lot of their material; Weird seeing how just a few years ealier, his brothers left Motown because they weren't allowed to produce there own records.

It's simple to see why Jermaine would be allowed to produce when his brothers weren't given a chance, when you're married to the boss' daughter, you have privileges. Just ask Harvey and Marvin - they married Berry's sisters and got more leverage, it happens like that. But yeah, Switch was one of the best things Jermaine did in his post-J5 career.

And yes Bobby DeBarge had a voice that was just... I can't even describe it! He is so missed! dove

If you actually look at it, Jermaine started producing immediatley after his brothers left.

His brothers left early of their contract in 1975 (their contrat was up in 76). Jermaine was producing in 1975 for himself and other artist. On the Mahongany SDT that year he produced his own tracks.

Also there's the next generation of Debarge's doing their thing. I'm at work right now so I can't listen to it and see how it sounds. But there's some talk about El's son releasing an album:

Their mother is in ministry and there are actually quite a few ministers and pastors with myspace pages. It is a place for networking for those who actually use it for that instead of networking the next booty call. lol

They also have some magazine. I've had some limited communication with Chico Debarge about it.

More of the kind of slow jams that I love. Switch, Heatwave, Enchantment, The Stylistics, Blue Magic, The Delfonics....those are great slow jams.

This is my favorite Switch song period.

There is no sub-sti-tute lol

I Call Your Name

I used to think about immature things,
You know like, Do you love me?, Do you want me?
Are you gonna call me like you said you would?
Is this really your real phone number?

But you know i'm a man now, baby, a grown man
And i came a looooong way, ha-ha
And experience taught me one thang
Taught me to hold on to my love

Sometime

I just can't help thinkin' livin' without you baaby

See, sometime

I just can't live cryin' about, you baaby

I'm not worried 'bout a doggone thing
I'll take anythiiing you bri-aaaaang
Although i love the sunshiine
I'll still accept the raaiiiiin
'Cause when i'm in my lonely mood
And i just can't be with yoooou-oo
I tried everything to occupy my miind
And there was no substitu-uute

Thinking all that life would beee
When you're not aroun-ound
I just could not find a waaay-ay
I wouldn't even know up from dow'owwn

But since i had you in my liiife
All'll these can be founnd
So strong and trrruuue, baaaby
a'Comin' from yoooou-oaa-ooh-oaa-ooh-oaa

Yoooou.

I call your naaaame girrrrl
Wheneva' i am lonely, baaaby
I call your naaaame
When i feel the neeeeed of lo'ove
I think of you and it eaases the paa-aiin
Take away the straaa-e-aaiiin

'Cause i don't worry ' what my people say
In my liiife todaa-e-ay
Although they try to say your not the one for meee
I'll love you any waaaaay

'Cause their intentions miight be cooool
If what they say was trruuue-oo
But there's more to you than they could ev'ver see..
And they don't even knooow yooooou'oo

Thinking all that life would beee
When you're not arou'ound
I just could not find a waaaaa-ay
I wouldn't even know up from dow'owwn
But since i had you in my liiife
All'll these can be found
So strong and true, baaby
Comin' from yooooou-oo' you, you, you, you

Yoooou.

I call your naaaame girrrrl
Sometiiimes when i get lone-ly, baaby
I call your naaaame
When i feel the neeeeed of lo'ove
I think of you and eaases the paaiin
Take away the straaa-e-aaiiin

You.

I call your naaaame, girrrrl
Sometiiime, i get lone-ly, baaby
I call your naaaame
I just can't seem to help myself, for not wanting to be alone
So i call your name, I call your naaaame, hooooo ahhhhhaahhhhhaaaaahah
I think you and it eaases the paaiin
Take away the straaa-e-aaiiiin

I dooooo you do
Birds and bees do too-oo
I,i love you, you love me
And i kno'ow
Whoa,oh,whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa-oh
I-call-your-naaaame and it eases the paa-e-aiin

See-i just don't feel all by myself tonight
It seems like someone else is out there
Oh, thinkin' of holdin' someone else tight
So you will know where i'm comin' from
Ooooooh, when i'm lonely, when i'm discouraged
Oh' i call your naaaaa-aa-ame, baabe

There-is nooooo sub-sti-tute for-yooooou
No one could taaaake your plaaaace
Your more than they'aay can ev'ver receiiive
That's why i call your naaaaame

Oooooh i, baaby, when iii'm lone-ly
When i am diiscouraged
I call your naaaame, girrrrrl
I think of you and it eaases the paaiiin
Take away the straaa-e-aaiin

You-oo, i call your naaaame, girrrl
Sometimes when i get lonely baby
I call your naaaame
When i feel the neeeeed of lo'ove
I think of you and it eaases the paaiiin
Take away the straaa-e-aaiiin

Da da lee la la la la la la
I call your name
(Da da lee la la la la la la)
Da da lee la la la la la la
I call your naaame, girrrl
(Da da lee la la dee da dee da)
Da da lee la la la la la la
I think of you and it eases the pain
(Da da lee la la la la la la)
(Da da la da dee da la da da da)
Take away the straa-e-aaiiin
(Da da la da da da la da da da)
(I call yoooou, it's yooooou, baby)
I call your name
(And yoooou, baby, and yoooou, whoa ooh, whoa oooooh)
I call your naaaame, girrrrl
I think of you and it eases the pain
(Yoooou you you you you you you you you you you you you)
Take away the straa-e-aaiiin
(I call your name girl)

I dooooo, you do
Birrrds and beees do too-oo
I,i love you, you love meee
And i kno'oooow
Whoa, oh whoa whoa whoa whao whoa whoa -oh
I-call-your-name and it eases the paa-e-aiin
I call yor naaaame

I was on the phone with my brother one time. He was at some show in San Jose when he says, "I'll call you back, I'm talking to Chico and James Debarge."

I wanted to say HI! He wouldn't let me though

He's a bitch lol
