Old School Slow Jam of the day: Come Back (Five Stairsteps) http://youtube.com/watch?v=xMkdYAYf1xU
The Five Stairsteps released their first single in the Spring of 1966. This is their 3rd single also released in 1966 titled "Come Back." It's one of my favorites by them. PRINCE: Always and Forever

But the song is great. I need to find it. Thanks. Some more tracks by the 5 Stairsteps: You Waited to Long (1966) http://youtube.com/watch?...ed&search= Stay Close To Me (1968) http://youtube.com/watch?...ed&search= We Must Be in Love (1969) http://youtube.com/watch?...ed&search= The Steps had some greatjams back in the day. Others by them I like include: -Don't Waist Your Time -Ain't Gonna Rest (Till I Get You) -The Shadow Of Your Love -Don't Change Your Love -Little Young Lover -Love's Happening -Dear Prudence [Beatles remake] -Easy Way In 1976, they released an album titles 2nd Ressurection with lots of help from the late billy Preston. It was totaly different from their early material with Curtis Mayfield. Damn near every track on that LP is great. My two favorites have to be Pasado and Time. PRINCE: Always and Forever

This info is very much appreciated and is currently being worn out. Curtis Mayfield is tremendous, one of the best musical artists of the 20th century. And I have 2 discs worth of music from the Impressions. But I've never tracked it backwards to what the Stairsteps had to offer. And they apparently have quite a lot. They were apparently the Jackson 5, long before the Jackson 5. It's time to do some digging. Currently their only non-LP type release seems to be a greatest hit anthology. Chicago soul of the 60s at its finest. "The First Family of Soul". | |
