Hot Stage Lights My favorite song on On the Jungle Floor. I run it constantly, no the words and sing along every time. Then one day it occurred to me that I never really truly listened to the lyrics so now that it’s been sorta reborn. I especially love the change up near the end but both grooves are equally good.
All the men in her life they been hung up, poster-ized Like dead heroes She done traveled the globe Leaving their hearts pulverized From coast to coast Invited me over for tea Looking hot and murderous From head to toe I took a seat right by the door With my hand on my gun Determined to keep my clothes on She kiss me on my neck And I feel the fire ...Feel those cameras flashin' ...Feel them hot stage lights I've been voted best #1 desire ...the latest passion It's clear I'm man of the year But I won't go near Them hot stage lights She's in tears I'm man of the year And I won't go near Them hot stage lights She can shoot through my window But, I'm already gone Cursed and criminal And, she won't waste her breath She'll send me a text on the phone With her thoughts in prose I don't lover her as much as I glamorize her Like a centerfold I dont want her as much as I want to own her And, then let her go Today her love, tomorrow the world Wish I could stay But, I'm looking for more Maybe one day At the end of the tour I'll stop by-if I'm Ready for the hot stage lights Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

This is my favorite song on the album too!
I will admit that I kinda neglected this album when I first got it, but last month I was replaying it and this track really stands out. I'm still waiting for Van Hunt to really challenge himself though, I feel like he's being kinda "safe" with his music, if you know what I mean If you will, so will I

Excellent song, wished the album got some attention, but in this climate, the last thing RB wants is someone thats not the TYPICAL. But all i worry about is that Van Hunt just keeps putting out music, dont reallly care if he sells or not. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I swear, modern R&B is afraid of anyone who can play an instrument! Any soul singer who plays a guitar these days is pretty much guarunteed to get no love on the radio If you will, so will I

I don’t mind if he stays under the radar as long as he is successful by his terms and that his music is made available to us.
But I also feel as if he doesn’t challenge himself as much or that there’s a lot more up his sleeve or is holding back. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

It's cool that he's not mainstrem corrupted, but sometimes, and he should take advantage of that by really giving us something "out there". I'd also like to here him strech his vocal range a bit. But I can't wait for his new album...even though I'm still digesting the last one If you will, so will I

Any soul singer who plays a guitar these days is pretty much guarunteed to get no love on the radio I never thought about it like that but it sure seems to be the case. R&B seems to like those smooth, oversexed, pursed gloss lips (Ne-Yo), blinged out singers usually with nasally voices. Pick up a guitar and they get slapped to the back of the pile. Play electric guitar and they don't know what the heck to do with 'em. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Just the other night I was watching an Isley Brothers concert special on TV with my mom, and thinking to myself how you just don't see R&B singers with real bands at all! and sweet heavens, don't even ask for a guitar solo! That's like a crime for these slickster, Versace-fied, over-produced "musicians" If you will, so will I

It's a fantastic song, but my favorite song on the album is still "At the End of a Slow Dance." "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
