When is it time to hook up VA with some slow jams? After all, this is the guy known for saying, "I want to hear fast songs when I wanna shake my ass and slow songs when I'm fucking or getting my dick sucked!"

THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

C'mon, TA. I'm familiar with The Controllers, the longtime soul singers from Alabama.

Well welcome to the party... lol
Andy and I talked about these guys some time ago and we were by our lonesome.

I was being ironic because kids today would hear "Watching You" and say. "They stole that off Snoop Dog!"

Sorry if any have been mentioned already.

"Conscience" - Sun
"Firecracker" - Mass Production
"LOVE YOU" - Brass Construction
"Jam" - LTD

Great choices. You ain't lying either. My ex neice in law (is there such a thing)....my sister's ex husband's daughter from a previous marriage lol ....I remember augueing with her in the 1990s. She thought that Shitney Houston originally recorded "I Will Always Love You" and that MC Hammer came up with the melody and played all the instruments on "U Can't Touch This". lol

You'd dig the Tease tune if you heard it and The Controllers tune was thrown in because you and I might be the only ones that have heard of that band.

OK, let's go for 2 more familiar funky songs...

Groove Me - King Floyd
Back In Love Again - L.T.D.

Great choices. And I mainly remember "Let Me Entertain You" by The Controllers. I recently found out that another song I love is by them...."Street Life". All these years, I had thought that song was by a female named Randy Crawford. Last weekend I was playing my "Tom Joyner Morning Mix" CD part 2 and noticed the name of the group on the back of the CD. No wonder I've never seen "Street Life" in the Randy Crawford section of the record store. lol

I love some slow jams. However, I hate 99% of that adult contemporary Shitney Houston influenced stuff that came out after 1985. My favorite slow jams are ones like these.....

Always and Forever - Heatwave
There'll Never Be - Switch
Reasons (Live Version) - Earth, Wind, and Fire
La La Means I Love You - The Delfonics
Sparkle - Cameo
It's You That I Need - Enchantment
I Destroyed Your Love - Terry Huff and Special Delivery
Just Don't Want To Be Lonely - The Main Ingredient
Be My Girl - The Dramatics
You Make Me Feel Brand New - The Stylistics
Stop To Start All Over Again - Blue Magic
Sensuality - The Isley Brothers
Float On - The Floaters
You Are My Starship - Norman Conners
Hollywood - Rick James
A Love Of Your Own - Average White Band
Baby Come Back - Player
Who's Sad - Smokey Robinson
Too Lonely To Be Alone - Kwick
Don't Be Lonely - Sho-Nuff
Say Yes - Lakeside
When We Get Married - Larry Graham
Spend My Whole Life - Zapp
Something In The Past - One Way
We Go A Long Way Back - Bloodstone
It's Been Such A Long Time - New Birth
Love Won't Let Me Wait - Major Harris
Do Me, Baby - Prince
Feel Me - Cameo
Make Love To Me - Rick James
Feels Like I'm Falling In Love - The Barkays

That's just a few.

OK. So is it strictly listed as being by The Controllers but only featuring Randy Crawford? I knew I recognized her voice. lol That would explain why I haven't seen it listed under her name.

EDIT

Wait a minute TA, I got all mixed up. I just noticed it's The Crusaders and not The Controllers. I got the two mixed up with each other.

Yeah, who are they? Those pictures are sooooo small. From the hairstyles, they look like they are from the late 1980s. The lady in the first picture looks like she could be either Stacy Lattisaw from the late 80s or maybe the lady from Starpoint. In the second picture, it looks a little like Sheila E. but who the hell are those two male dancers beside her. lol

Well, I be damn. I've got a good eye. I thought that might be Stacy Lattisaw in that little picture. She looked totally different in the late 80s when she was all grown up.

i was trying to find something of Stacy's "with you" album. God i love that album.

That was a great album. My alltime favorite Stacy Lattisaw song "Feel My Love Tonight" is on that album.

You will probably have a hard time finding R&B videos from the early 80s because pop groups were the majority of the ones making videos back then. BET wasn't widely available until the late 80s and "Friday Night Videos" and "Night Tracks" was the only ones that would give R&B artists the time of day. MTV only played Michael Jackson or Prince but no one else. In the mid 80s "New York Hot Tracks" did a lot to promote R&B videos, moreso than anyone else.

and Five Star will always be one of my favourite top 3 groups. LOL wasn't sure if you liked either but hey, it's a dedication thread. lol

I liked Five Star a little bit (mainly their 12 Inch versions). I never really got into them enough to buy any of their music though.
