I was thinking of a similar thread for our colorful member of The Org. How about several jams:

* Pleasure "Glide"

* Faze-O "Riding High"

* Mass Production "Turn Up the Music"

* Herbie Hancock "Ready or Not"

* Chuck Brown and The Soul Searchers "Bustin' Loose"

* Instant Funk "I Got My Mind Made Up (You Can Get It Girl)"

[Edited 8/26/07 23:00pm]
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

I just want to prove to him that there are still groups out there that are creating funky, ass-shaking jams like in the days of yore.

Seriously, everyone check out The Rapture. Indie/Dance/Funk/Punk at it's finest.

Excellent choices. I don't think I'm familiar with the Herbie Hancock song but the others you listed are definately right up my alley.

Like, the computer at work, or the computer you are always on? You can never see movies?

It was Rufus with Chaka Khan live at Central Park.

The video is a TV performance of Slave's "Watching You."

Seriously, you're not readily familiar with Herbie Hancock's "Ready or Not?" It's an instrumental co-written with Ray Parker Jr. from his 1979 album "Feets, Don't Fail Me Now." On this album, Hancock had little in common with jazz but he really brought the funk. Here is the chorus:

"Ready or not when the rhythm gets hot/We're gonna get you high!
SHAKE! SHAKE! We're gonna make the temperature rise!"

And here was the chant in the middle of the song:

"Ohh wee ohh. Comin' for you!
LOOK OUT !!!!"

If not, look it up when you get a chance.

Both. The computers at work have sites like youtube completely blocked. I recently got my old computer at home fixed but I have a $10 a month dial up service so if I watch videos, I see one second, then it "buffers" for a minute, then I see three seconds, then it buffers for two minutes....

I don't know if you're blocked from listening to music, but go to a site like CD Universe and look for this album:

You can hear a snippet of "Ready or Not." It was a great song to get off on in the spring of 1979.

Yeah, all the players such as Real Player, Windows Media Player, etc. are blocked also. I might be able to hear it when I get home though.

Oh yeah, I'm familiar with "Planet Soul". I've got the cassette single around here somewhere. A lot of the housy dance tracks would slow way down and speed back up. The song I was inquiring about was "French Kiss". If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it slowed down and sped back up also. The only vocals on the song was a woman having an orgasm. lol

Here's a few more.... (Don't worry Andy I wouldn't lay any "s*** hop" on you.)

I was being ironic because kids today would hear "Watching You" and say. "They stole that off Snoop Dog!"

Sorry if any have been mentioned already.

"Conscience" - Sun
"Firecracker" - Mass Production
"LOVE YOU" - Brass Construction
"Jam" - LTD

You'd dig the Tease tune if you heard it and The Controllers tune was thrown in because you and I might be the only ones that have heard of that band.

OK, let's go for 2 more familiar funky songs...

Groove Me - King Floyd
Back In Love Again - L.T.D.
