The only charted single from The System's "X-Periment" album was "I Wanna Make You Feel Good (peaked at No. 48 on the Billboard R&B Singles charts)." The charted singles from "The Pleasure Seekers (No. 21)" were the title track and "This Is for You (No. 8)." THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. question: is there a greatest hits album by The System? I like their music, but I don't really want to buy the individual albums.I'd rather have a good compilation by them.

I don't think a greatest hits compilation has been issued for them. Most people only remember them for "Don't Distrub This Groove" or "You Are In My System". Maybe Rhino will put together a compilation soon. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I wonder why they don't have a compilation by now.I can name numerous 80s acts that have had less hits than The System and yet, they still have a compilation on the market.

Well, it's not like The System have had that many hits (five Billboard top 10 singles), but I can understand. I find them not to have that big enough of a fan base or reputation within the music community that people are clamoring for their music. Like daPrettyman said, most people associate them only with "Don't Disturb This Groove" and that album still can be bought as a stand-alone. Yeah, they were never major stars, but I'd still like to hear forgotten songs like "This Is For You","Sweat","I Just Wanna Make You Feel Good",etc. The albums are out of print so the least they could do is compile a "Best Of".I realize that they would have to pad it out with album tracks Hell,I have a Wild Cherry 'Best Of' CD in my collection!

I have every album of The System's on CD, so I would be happy to make a compilation for you. I don't feel it's as much as The System was not major stars as much as Mic Murphy and David Frank never had some sort of tangibly devout following for their music. The reason why someone like O'Bryan (a contemporary of The System's who only had two top 10 hits and two others in the top 20) has a compilation is because he had "Right On!"/"Rock and Soul" fan base and he was considered a sex symbol (several of his ballads are played frequently on Quiet Storm formats). The System is not really a novelty act who had one major hit; "Don't Disturb This Groove" was a big soul and pop hit during its time but it's like not some 30-year-old anthem like Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music." In a lot of respects, Murphy and Frank were faceless -- they wouldn't be recognizable to someone who is not a hardcore fan unless you said "The white guy who plays the keyboards and the black guy who sings." IMO, I feel The System's biggest downfall is two-fold: 1.) Mic and David never put together a consistent run of hit songs and IMO it wasn't until their final album during their commercial run ("Rhythm and Romance") that they assembled a consistent, good album. When they had brilliant songs ("You Are in My System," "This Is for You," "Lollipops and Everything") they were great, but it was few and far between in their initial three albums. 2.) Their music is a little hard to fit into a format on soul music stations. It was fairly difficult in the 1980s, but it's very difficult into today's music scene. Most popular stations are rap and The System's music was too techno-oriented to put on those old school soul formats.
