What is "This High School Musical" all about

Is it an American musical based on TV or the threatre? It's seems to be getting a lot of publicity but I have no idea whose in it and where to see it.

It's one of the worst things of all time. Really TRULY awful.

Pretend that Grease has been replaced by 16 year old actors who can't act and look like Barbie dolls. All the songs have been replaced by shit ones, the story and characters have been replaced by something no intelligent person over 8 years old gives a crap about, and the overall filming production has been overseen by amateurs.

That's High School Musical.

Yes, made for the Disney Channel so it's not in cinemas. Then they sell heaploads of DVDs and syndicate the thing worldwide to torture everyone.

I don't know how Disney gets away with it. I honestly would have laughed it out of the room when I was 7 if someone had tried to show me this. The acting makes Hilary Duff look like Meryl Streep. It was shown last year on BBC1 around Christmas time after Disney had worn it out and I caught it by accident. I usually like teeny cheesy crap but this was beyond anything I could have been prepared for.

I guess it explains the loads of advertising they do on children's channels such as Nick jr and Jetix. Unfortunatly because of my kids these are the only channels I tend to watch in my house and they are always advertisng the album for this "High School Musical"

I bought the soundtrack ... and what anyone else says, i don't give a damn! It's fun and very entertaining! do you guys even remember when you got so negative and so damn serious about everything. music is about having fun, first and foremost.

If thriller or 1999 came out today you would be bashing it like timberlake or anything else that comes out these days gets bashed here...and don't tell me it wouldn't. somewhere along the way some of you have turned music into some sort of jonestown cult...and i'm glad to have no part in that!

it's a movie for kids, with music for kids...what the hell did you expect. why are you tearing into it as if it were supposed to be, or pretends to be, anything else than good hearted entertainment for children? what's next? complaints about how lassies acting skills were overrated? whining sessions about the lack of socio-critical themes in bob the builder? here's a revelation for you...when you were a six year old, you watched 'crap' like this too!

I'd admit it here, I thought that some of the songs from the first HSM were average and fun for the kids. They were catchy numbers, but that's it. The movie or soundtrack have no purpose or life, but that shouldn't be a surprise because it's DISNEY, people!

I'm obsessed with Hairspray at the moment. I know Zac Efron is in both, but he's not the star of Hairspray. The songs in comparison to HSM are just compleetly different. The calibre of it has been turned up ten notches.

I don't like it when people say that anyone who dislikes HSM is boring. Fun teeny musicals are practically my very own forté. You name it, I've got it, seen it 100 times, bought the soundtrack and had a year long obsession with it at some point. High School Musical on the other hand... NO.

Well Disney has always had the market on whatever it does, whether its doing animation like Bambi to what they do now with networks and their cd compilations. Parents eat this stuff up for their kids because its not MTV and everyone screwing each other and all that.

But as for HSH that Vanessa Hudgens is HOT sorry very Pretty....

And for HAIRSPRAY that Amanda Bynes is pretty damn Hot

For the record Vaness is 18 or 19 and Amanda is 21

The reason why I brought this up is because I see it being advertise everywhere, even one of the stars is on the front cover of the Rolling Stone mag. I just want to know what this phenomenon is about and if it is any good.

Go see Hairspray. He's better in that. At least he had to use his real voice in Hairspray whereas they dubbed him in HSM.

only in HSM1, HSM2 it's his voice...the main reason I bought the second but not the first
