This may sound crazy, but I actually think she should get back to making "pop" music.Leave the R&B/hip-hop crap behind and go back into the studio with David Foster,Diane Warren and folks like that. Her voice is more suited for that kind of material anyway.I hate those awful R&B singles she's been doing recently ("Heartbreak Hotel","Whatcha Lookin At",and that horrible track that samples The Isley's "Between The Sheets").

You have a point. While I despise the bland and boring music she made in the '80s and for the movie The Bodyguard, a number of people do love that sort of music. I think after Madonna, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion are the best-selling female artists in popular music. And all three are famous for their ballads. I cannot imagine Celion Dion doing well with Timbaland as her producer. Her fanbase, I believe, would not be pleased if Celine came out with a single called, "In the Club."

Whitney should go back to making songs like "I Will Always Love You" and "I Have Nothing",two excellent songs from 'The Bodyguard' soundtrack. It sounds much more genuine for her. When she tries to "ghetto-ize" her music,it sounds forced.I don't even want to hear her new CD if it's gonna contain songs by R.Kelly and Ne-Yo

Like vainandy and I said, Whitney Houston is making shit-hop music because it is the pop/crossover sound of this generation. Had she made songs like "Heartbreak Hotel" and "One of Those Days" 20 years ago, it would have been deemed "too black" by her fans but now it's so mainstream it's almost expected. One of my biggest problems with Houston is that she has never made anything remotely considered progressive. She has never went into a musical direction until it was overly saturated by other artists (the mid-1980s to early-1990s pop torch ballads, early to mid-1990s LaFace sound, shit-hop in the late 1990s to today) and by the time she does it it's a near-obligatory staple. I also agree with vain: If the pop torch ballads were her true default sound by preference, she still would be doing them regularly. THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. I don't care what type of music she makes these days because I already know, knowing her, that it's going to be something weak because "weak" is her middle name. As for older R&B artists in general making a new album these days, I'd rather see them make a country album than make what's called R&B these days. Andy is a four letter word.

What would be hilarious would be if funk were to not only come back in style, but also become the new pop. She would have a hell of a time trying to make funk and actually succeed at it. She would keep falling behind and wouldn't be able to keep up. It would serve her damn ass right. Andy is a four letter word.

No, your not. I love Whitney's voice, but I am disgusted with her behavior over the years. She could've had a life long career and loads of respect, but instead she married that loser BB and turned to drugs. I hope she can get her act together one day and come back with some good music. God knows the industry needs her. How much more of Riahanna, Ciara and Keisha Cole can we take? i agree "we make our heroes in America only to destroy them"

That forced tone she chooses to sing in now being the main problem. I 100% agree.. christina's voice can be so annoying and it sounds forced at times.. just like Kelly clarkson... i think when some people.. especially young girls try to sing like whitney houston.. most of the time.. it sounds like they are straining their vocals... it comes naturally to whitney.... even mariah used to try to sing powerful like whitney when she first started.. now she just whispers... and even beyonce tried to copy whitneys star spangle banner performance... but failed... ultimately every TRIES to have that powerful voice like whiteY... but it comes natural for her.. and sounds amazing

As for older R&B artists in general making a new album these days, I'd rather see them make a country album than make what's called R&B these days. I think she should stick to the slick, adult contemporary pop that she made a career out of It's more genuine for her,and there is a devoted market for that kind of music (just ask Celine Dion, lol). Her recent attempts at R&B/ship hop have failed.People don't wanna hear that kinda crap from her.

Whitney has a fine voice...or had a fine voice, I am not quite sure how badly the drugs have affected her voice now. However, I've love Whitney best when she covered other people's songs. Before it got over-played I prefered her version of I Will Always Love You to Dolly Parton version. But my favourite song from her by a distance is For The Love of You originally done by the Isley Brothers. She did that song a lot of justice.
