Let's talk about Keith Sweat! I was watching his Sweat Hotel show on the Tom Joyner show last night and it looked like fun. He's pretty good live and seems like a cool guy. I was never really into him though "I want her" was the joint back in the day & "Make it last forever" is a classic slow jam too. He's been around for a while now so you gotta give him his props. I'm just not really into smooth slow r&b jamz! Does he ever do uptempo stuff?

He's had a few uptempo hits, but most of his stuff is medium to slow paced. Uptempo trax that I can remember: I Want Her Don't Stop Your Love Keep It Comin' Make You Sweat Why Me Baby (Part II) remix Come and Get With Me Just A Touch of Love (Slave remake) **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

That's a cool track too. I'm contemplating getting his first cd. Do you have it? Is it good? How come he doesn't really get more props in the music industry? Seems like di hard r&b fans know about him but he's not that huge considering his accomplishments.

He really is not someone i would typically listen to but music is so shit right now that i'm just going to back to the old skool getting stuff that i never owned before. it's way better than what we have now that's for sure. who would you rather listen to, Keith Sweat or T-Pain? i'll take Keith Sweat thank you very much.

I think what happened with keith is after his first two albums which were good solid r&b albums all of a sudden he kind of watered his sound down from pure r&b to hybrid shit hop/r&b. All of a sudden he is doing songs with snoop dogg, lil mo, etc. and he just kind of lost his older r&b fans to try and keep current. After his first two albums i lost interest, however; he has a stable of hits. I saw him on a rapfest tour in 2001,believe me only because a friend of mine worked for the county and got free tickets and took his kids, with amerie, ll cool j, tank, the rappers with the whistle while you twurk song, donnell jones who was horrible and i put that nicely, and a couple of other hip hop acts. The show was a mess. Keith performance was very average. LL the headliner was probably the best act of an otherwise lame concert. Don't laugh at my funk

He has a total of 14 top-10 singles. His first 10 singles (4 each from Make It Last Forever and I'll Give All My Love to You and the first 2 from Keep It Comin') reached the top 10. Besides "Don't Stop Your Love" (#9), the other 9 reached the top 4 (including 3 songs without videos, which is amazing in that era). He has 6 #1 hits ("I Want Her," "Make You Sweat," "I'll Give All My Love to You," "Keep It Comin'," "Twisted," and "Nobody") and 3 that peaked at #2 ("Make It Last Forever," "Merry Go Round," and "Why Me Baby"). His 1st album is a bonafide classic, the 2nd and 3rd ones are good, the 4th and 5th are up-and-down, and it's all downhill after that. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Here are some of Keith Sweat's uptempo hit songs: "I Want Her" "Something Just Ain't Right" "Don't Stop Your Love" "Make You Sweat" "Your Love, Pts. I and II" "Keep It Comin'" "How Do You Like It" "Twisted" "Come and Get with Me" He also made quite a few uptempo album tracks I liked: "Spend a Little Time" (with Charlie Wilson), "Love to Love You Baby," "Let Me Love You," "My Whole World," and "I Really Love You" stand out. If anything, Sweat had some bumpin' uptempo stuff. I grew up a fan of Keith's joints.
My favorite from him has to be between "Make It Last Forever" and "Merry Go Round". But all of his stuff from '87-'96 were boss. Especially with "Nobody" and "Twisted". After that, his shit went down the toilet though I did like his Isley Brothers-sampled "One on One" from his last album five years ago though that song didn't do much.

Yeah, but it's weak sounding. It's hard to explain. Maybe it's the type drums or drum machines on the songs. I guess you could maybe call it new jack sounding. I don't know. It just sounds weak. I'll put it this way, it sure as hell ain't funk. Andy is a four letter word.

That is easily some of Teddy Riley's best work. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

U must have really hated Prince's 90s stuff then. I like a lot of Prince's 90s stuff. In the 90s, besides house music, Prince was the only thing I listened to. Now that house music is practically extinct or has become "music you have to search for", Prince is the only thing current I listen to, except for Jamiroquai. As for Keith Sweat's "I Want Her", if I were absolutely desperate, I might consider it a "decent" song but I was used to much harder funk in the early 80s. The late 80s in general were a time of me refusing to lower my standards because I grew up with so much harder stuff in the early years of the decade. It would be like someone shopping on Rodeo drive, losing everything, and being forced to shop at Walmart. Andy just refuses to do it....ever. Andy is a four letter word.

I saw Keith in concert not by choice, but he was the headliner on one of those 'fest" bills that played Radio City. I was there for "SHADES" an RB girl group that had a couple of singles, mainly i was there because i was trying to get a date with one of the group (long story) but anyway, i stayed for the rest of the show and Keith was cool, ladies in the front went nuts, but i think the craziest thing was Mark Morrison who came on before Keith, he came out, talked some shit, and got booed off stage basically. Crazy night, thought i was in the Apollo when i saw him getting booed off. Yup, they had one album and two singles, the album was actually pretty good but they were on MOTOWN and we all know that Motown is the worst at everything. The singles they had were "Dont Tell Me" and "Serenade". I heard through the "grapevine" that one of the members was, shall we say, "encouraged" to lose a few pounds...
There was also a group around the same time on the label called "Ladae" (or something like that). If I remember correctly, Al B. Sure had something to do with the project. They were a boy band with a pretty charismatic lead singer. I heard some of their stuff, but I don't think it ever got released. They had a lot of potential.
