My favorite Grace Jones CD is her 1986 release, INSIDE STORY, produced by Nile Rogers. "I'm Not Perfect (But I'm Perfect For You)" is a great song, ya'll!!!

if you don't go into it expecting the sly & robbie magic, this is a really entertaining album. i was let down by it when i first heard it, but i was expecting another "warm leatherette" or "nightclubbing", and this is a totally different party. i love the video for "i'm not perfect" with andy warhol and keith haring, and there's great stuff on the album like "chan hitchhikes to shanghai" and "hollywood liar", which aren't as arty and extreme as her classic stuff, but are still great mid-80s dance music. nod

No disrespect to them, but, I always thought that she was transexual. Once again, no offense, so please don't take it as such.

i think a lot of people thought that, especially back in the '80s. i remember watching her on letterman and not knowing what to make of her, other than i thought she was a riot!

I also had the idea that she was always full of anger, anguish, and hate. But, she might have just been a bit more aggressive than the average women. Hell, than the average human being.

whenever she was on letterman, she would always laugh most of the way through the interview. dave would talk about what a wackjob she was, and she'd just sit there and cackle. i thought it was great. but yeah, i've read that she has a temper on her. if you were grace jones, wouldn't you have anger management issues too? lol

I'm re-dscovering Grace this very moment. A very dear friend played some of her music for me this weekend. I hadn't heard Nipple To The Bottle in at least 20 years. Awesome artist. Breathtaking beauty to me.

When I was younger I was always scared of her... My mother had that album where
her skin looks Purple. and I use to just sit and stare at that album all the time and then I got a chance to go see her one New Years Eve at the palladium in NYC (her opening act was Deee-Lite) and I've been hooked ever since

Nightclubbing was the album that made Grace Jones (in my opinion)truly famous.

Slave To The Rhythm was what got me interested and was an integral part of my growing up. Some periods in your life have this vivid soundtrack attached to it and Slave To The Rhythm takes me straight back to my first kiss.

Then I started backtracking and learned that I actually knew alot of her stuff, just never realised that was her. Even though she has a very recognisable voice, her songs are all over the place.

I love her version of La Vie En Rose.
