HEY! Upcoming KICKA$$ releases!!! Share! Share!

Hey fellow music freaks...share with me the upcoming CDs/DVDs you're the most pumped about...I'm curious about what you folks are anticipating...plus, I want to make sure I don't miss anything.

There was a similar thread a while back, but it got a bit sidetracked and sadly sank...

So, Share Dammit!!! big grin

"So Much Shouting, So Much Laughter" is fucking amazing!!!

On October 22nd, I'm eagerly awaiting the 007 DVD box set...and I'll probably pick up the 2-CD Bowie Best Of as well...

One November 5th, there's the Bjork box set AND Greatest Hits collection...and the U2 Best Of 1990-2000 set w/DVD...

Can someone tell me the release date for the Bowie DVD collection? Is it November 5th as well? What about the release date for Bjork's Volumen 2???

"From The Choirgirl Hotel" was such an amazing album that
I think it will be hard for her to surpass that.

See, this is where she lost me. But I really liked Venus. Maybe I should dust off Choirgirl and give it another chance cuz everyone seems to think it's great. I thought it was a letdown after Boys For Pele.

But I s'pose you just have to like that kind of darkness
that the album represents.

See there are plenty of albums that I consider dark and I love them very much. Boys For Pele is one of those albums. Or just take anything by Tricky for example- some of the best albums ever made. But for some reason the sound of Choirgirl and the song selection are not among her best. It seems to get universally great reviews. I just don't get it. I love the live performances from around that time and the full band sound worked very well for her. I was blown away by her VH1 Storyteller's. That happened with several releases that year for me by my favorite artists. Tori, PJ Harvey, Liz Phair, Tricky, Prince (NPS), Smashing Pumpkins all had projects that were hard for me to get into but eventually I understood and loved them all. Tori is the only one I have yet to appreciate out of that bunch of albums. Maybe I'll give it another try. smile

Yeah, I never get why people think Tricky is so evil. I think he makes beautiful music. And yes you're right about the different releases- Is This Desire?, Adore and Angels With Dirty Faces. I had a really hard time with Angels at first too. It's very dense and almost inpenetrable. But the more you listen, the better it gets. You should definitely check out some of the b-sides from that album like:

360 Degrees
Anti Histamine
Time
Peyote Sings
Taxi

A few of these tracks are even with Wendy and Lisa and Susan Rogers was heavily involved with the album and b-sides. I'll make you a deal okay? You give Angels With Dirty Faces a try and I'll start listening to Choirgirl again. Can we shake on that?

When are they gonna leave Jeff Buckley alone. This guy is gonna end up with more posthumous releases than Hendrix at this rate. Why didn't anyone care when he was alive! I saw him play in 1994 at our local rock club, to me his music always reminded me of the softer accoustic sound of Led Zep.
