So none of y'all saw Michael Jackson on the WMA, huh?

I know y'all couldn't have because there's not one mention of how his voice sounded. No he didn't sing at least not during the two minutes I watched while waiting for my food order but while he was talking, he sounded...umm...let me just say...kind of different! eek

That's because the World Music Awards was shown last November. I don't know about his singing tho.....

There are several threads (and one long one) that address MJ's appearance at the World Music Awards last November.

Yes, I agree. His voice was much deeper than what I am used to hearing from him!

I think it was in the Taraborelli biography that I read that MJ actually puts that timid voice on! Apparently Taraborelli was conducting an interview with MJ and rang his house and didn't recognise MJ's voice, because he was speaking in his normal voice, which is actually lower than what we're used to hearing.

As regards his singing, I'm sure I heard him sing for about 30 seconds before he just gave up. Didn't sound brilliant I must say but what a daft choice of song though. As much as I like 'Heal the world,' the award was for 'Thriller' so why didn't he do a song from the 'Thriller' album?

Let's not beat a dead horse. This topic has been discussed extensively already. Really, unless we are discussing updates on his new album, DVD compilations of past tours, major appearances within the past couple of weeks, favorite songs and albums, and The Jackson 5/The Jacksons, there is no need to create countless MJ threads. IMO, all other topics belong to either the Politics and Religion or the General Discussion forum.

You've never heard MJ's "real" voice before the WMA's? He's used it before back at the 1992 or 1993 Superbowl halftime performance show. When I heard MJ use his real voice during that performance, I swore I was listening to Barry White or somebody lol. It just shocked the hell outta me! I think he should use his real voice all the time though, he sounds so much better and mature. I really like his natural speaking voice.

Anyway, yeah it's true that MJ's voice didn't sound too great at the WMA's and a lot of people-including fans- gave him a lot of flack for it but whatever, it's over and done with now. I still thought it was a decent performance overall and the response he got from the crowd was great-it even made me tear up a bit when someone from the audience handed him the American flag. I thought MJ looked great that night too, the best he looked in a long time. S*it here I go again getting all sappy over MJ lol but oh well I can't help it, I love the guy and I enjoyed watching him at the WMA's biggrin .

I know what you mean, I could barely hear him at all. I think the mic levels had been adjusted to a lower level; not sure why, but Michael seemed (to me) to be singing into a dead microphone. eek

He looked really good at the WMAs, though. More healthy and well. I've noticed that his appearance seems to be better lately.

Since I didn't watch in November and I didn't see the WMA's until last night when I was in a restaurant that had it on, I missed out on the discussions! If you're not interested in this topic of discussion, you're more than welcome to stay the hell out of it! cool

I apologize. It's just that with these MJ threads, things get so repetitive (and nasty), and for no particular reason I vented my frustration at this particular thread. But, of course, everyone is entitled to discuss whatever the hell they want to. biggrin

Aww, man! No offense, but is it me or are you guys and gals just hearing "WAY" different. I didn't really feel that his natural speaking voice was all that deep. "Barry White"? Hell, my voice is way deeper than "Michael's", but I ain't no "Barry White". lol Anyway, so that you don't think that I am just trying to poke fun at you, whatever you say as far as Michael's looks goes. We were all told that it was/is always best not to judge, so I probably shouldn't even go there. But....you do know that you were exaggerating as far as saying that he looked better than he usually does....right?

He obviously had a cold when he was speaking at the SUperbowl in 1993. Try the last spoken line at the end of Whatever Happens. That's closer to he natural voice.
