1970s VANILLA R&B Jam of the Day: Boz Scaggs "Lowdown" The former Steve Miller Band member hit the R&B charts in a big way in 1976 with the addictive, sly "Lowdown." The laid-back song peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard R&B Singles and No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. To this day, the song remains a favorite among baby-boomer soul fans.

This song takes me back to the summer of '76  You couldn't escape this song....it was EVERYWHERE....on pop stations,on R&B stations,in the discos 
I recently bought the 'Silk Degrees' remaster.Contains a few bonus live tracks.This album is a 70s classic,filled with strong songs...."What Can I Say","Lido Shuffle","Georgia",etc. | |

The producers of 'Saturday Night Fever' wanted to use this song in the movie (during an early scene where Tony and Annette are practicing a dance step),but they couldn't get permission from Boz and his manager.Just think: this song could have been part of a soundtrack album that sold 22 million copies!
The song did appear in another movie from that era: "Looking For Mr.Goodbar". | |

oh that movie is great...much preferred to SNF in my house. Diane Keaton is a school teacher who hits the bar scene looking for a date and ends up on drugs and getting roughed up by Tom Beringer and Richard Gere back when they looked like this:

LOL Korvette's... that was the spot. Jimmy's Music world,Record Explosion, David Paich (former keyboards w/Toto) and Boz Scaggs collaborated quite a bit. In the past few month's i've seen both acts. The funny thing was, David Paich (who no longer really tours) played with Boz but didn't do the Toto gig. Korvettes, now that takes me back. tA  Tribal Disorder

 The bass line in this song is rememberable most definitely Funky flow perfectly with flute arragement and backing vocals.
