Truely the most underrated rock star of all time. Honestly, anywhere I go there's no love for this guy. My favorite albums are This Year's Model, Get Happy!!, Trust, and Spike. How about you guys?

Underrated? Hardly! Elvis Costello was both critically and commercially successful between 1977-1980 (both in the UK and the US). He remained a critics favourite throughout most of the 80s, as well as a big concert draw. His critical acclaim tailed off post-Spike, when he started releasing more obtuse material - Mighty Like a Rose was a critical and commercial bomb, leading to his reuniting the Attractions for Brutal Youth and All This Useless Beauty (which were relatively well-received). His last two albums have been very well received, critically.

I used to be a big fan of his between This Year's Model through to Blood & Chocolate. I went off him around the time of Spike, and I haven't been a fan of his since.

Easily the best solo artist of his generation.
Also, he is one of the few rockstars who uses glasses and looks cool at the same time

I think he's very overrated.

I'm not that familiar with his work, but I loved seeing him perform with Fiona Apple on VH1. I Want You, is a amazing song!

If there is a popular musician that I despise with a passion, it is Elvis Costello. One of the most overrated male artists IMO.

I've just listened to Imperial Bedroom and I didn't like it, I love Alison* & Everyday I Write A Book, like almost everyone I guess.

I really liked "Mighty Like A Rose"...I'm surprised to hear it wasn't recived well. I really dig "The Juliet Letters", with Elvis performing fictional "letters" with classic musicains. He has been very experimental with genres in the last 10, if not 15 years. The album with Allen Toussiant was really good. I saw him live during that album and he performed probably every song from it and then some...it was a nearly three hour show! We were exhausted!
