1970s VANILLA R&B Jam of the Day: Boz Scaggs "Lowdown" The former Steve Miller Band member hit the R&B charts in a big way in 1976 with the addictive, sly "Lowdown." The laid-back song peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard R&B Singles and No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. To this day, the song remains a favorite among baby-boomer soul fans.
NOTE: Special thanks to TheAudience for helping me remember this jam! [Edited 8/15/07 18:32pm] THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

Don't trip over it. It's only a title. Comment if you like or dislike the song. I ran a thread on this very song over two years ago. Point being, I dig it to the 9th degree. One of my all time faves. Bump this in my ride all the time. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

A thread on this cut always comes up every 3 months. A great jam. The bass is loose and the guitar solo (by Les Dudek, not Steve Lukather) is perfect.

Now how did that happen? - anyway Boz & Toto together - this is a great album & I don't even like Toto. Bought right after I moved to NY at Korvettes. Why do I remember that yet I can't find my house keys today! Getting old sucks.

some trivia about this song:
The producers of 'Saturday Night Fever' wanted to use this song in the movie (during an early scene where Tony and Annette are practicing a dance step),but they couldn't get permission from Boz and his manager.Just think: this song could have been part of a soundtrack album that sold 22 million copies! The song did appear in another movie from that era: "Looking For Mr.Goodbar".

LOL Korvette's... that was the spot. Jimmy's Music world,Record Explosion, David Paich (former keyboards w/Toto) and Boz Scaggs collaborated quite a bit. In the past few month's i've seen both acts. The funny thing was, David Paich (who no longer really tours) played with Boz but didn't do the Toto gig. Korvettes, now that takes me back. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

The bass line in this song is rememberable most definitely Funky flow perfectly with flute arragement and backing vocals. "Ohhh. I Wonder, Wonder, Wonder, Wonder Who." [Edited 8/16/07 8:51am]
