Artists/bands most in need of a box set

Rick James: It's a shame that most of his albums are out of print and the Anthology which is an awesome collection doesn't have some of my favourites such as Throwdown, High on Your Love, Big Time and Money Talks.

Cameo: Im not familiar with anything after Word Up. I've got Single life, KOTST, Aligator woman, She's strange and Cameosis. And enough evidence that they were a baddass band. From Funk to rock and those underrated slow jams cameo did it all and managed to change with the times without compromising much.

Early Commodores: Everything that's available focuses mainly on the ballads and only includes huge hits like Brick House, Lady you bring me up and machine gun in terms of funk. The complete Funk recordings would be awesome.

Maybe something similar to the recent Sly Stone Collection.

maybe this time my post will actually show up lol

***Luther Vandross---if they're not gonna do a box set,the least they could do is remaster his 80s albums....everything from 'Never Too Much' to 'Any Love'.

***The O'Jays---back in the mid-90s,there were plans for a box set but it never materialized.

***Donna Summer---yeah,she's got a ton of greatest hits compilations, but how about a great,multi-disc box set that finally gets it right? She's got a ton of rarities and early singles that could be used.

***Rick James---in addition to the hits and album tracks, they could also use many of his unreleased tracks. He's got an entire unreleased album from 1989 ('Kickin') that could make up one of the discs! There are also some unreleased songs from his pre-Motown days.

***Natalie Cole

The Rick James Anthology has Big Time on it.
If you haven't heard Cameo's 70's stuff, you're missing out. Big time smile
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

The Gap Band (although I'd rather just have Jammin' and all of their albums in print)

i'd love to see a nicely packaged frank zappa boxed set with a mix of popular songs, live tracks, rarities, instrumentals, etc. - something substantial for new fans, but something with a broad enough scope that hardcore fans could throw it on the stereo when they're in the mood for a little bit of everything by frank.

Joni Mitchell

I think all she has for a retrospective is Hits and Misses.

As long as it's most unreleased songs and mixes, I agree.

Madonna and LL Cool J also come to mind. New Edition, R.E.M., George Michael, and Mary J. Blige (complete with remixes) could also be good candidates. U2 certainly has enough compilations, but the group doesn't have a box set yet.

Al Green needs one, doesn't he?

Funkadelic (a career-spaning box set)
Donny Hathaway (rarities and music he was working on before his tragic death)
Joni Mitchell
Roberta Flack (most definitely)

I think Rick James is the one who needs a box set the most. You can only see at least albums on CD

BTW, I was looking at the inner sleeve of the "Bustin Out of L Seven" LP and was laughing my butt off because Rick was posing with a pair of socks in his pants! lol

Rick James Box set of stuff including unreleased gems, also a box set from Teena Marie wow can u imagine the unreleased stuff she may have from her days at motown and epic records.....would be so nice if we could hear it! Also some Stacy Lattisaw unreleased stuff from Cotillion Records and Motown...I love her TOO! The Marvelettes could use some re-Released stuff like a TRUE Anthology like Kim Weston & Brenda Holloway, i am sure there are more than a few unreleased tracks in the vaults from MY Favorite girl group, motown is dragging its feet and not giving them their PROPER DUE! SO Sad!

-Frank Zappa - anxiety's suggestion
-Thin Lizzy

Those are ones that immediately spring to my mind
