MJ X Factor Mentor December 1st 2007

Jacko set to join the X Factor

SINGING legend Michael Jackson is to star on The X Factor, we can reveal.

He has agreed to be a mentor for the show broadcast on December 1.

It is a huge coup both for the talent search show and ITV.

The channel broadcast the Martin Bashir interview with Jacko, 49, that led to his court case for allegedly molesting a boy. The pop star was acquitted.

Girls Aloud will also be making an appearance – rumoured to be one of their last before an expected split.

The girls signed up despite member Cheryl Cole slating the show recently.

She said the age limit should not have been lowered to 14, adding: “To have someone criticise you when you’re that young is very hard. Give them a few years, a chance to finish school and they’ll be ready.”

Celine Dion, Rihanna, Kylie, Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis, Westlife and Mariah Carey have also agreed to appear.

They will spend several days with the finalists – helping them prepare their songs and fine-tune their voices.

They will also perform one of their own songs.

An insider said: “We’ve got some huge names but Michael Jackson really is a sensational signing. He is a truly global, worldwide superstar. And this will be his first TV appearance in Britain since the Martin Bashir interview. Given his background with ITV, it’s even more astonishing that he agreed to do it.”

Judges Louis Walsh, Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Sharon Osbourne have all done their bit to persuade stars to appear.

Dannii has got big sister Kylie to be on the final show. The live programmes kick off on October 20 with Leona Lewis.

The source said: “There has been some top-level negotiating here. Everyone is absolutely delighted.

“The contestants are better, the judging panel is bigger and better, so the celebrity guests had to be.

“This is going to be the best show on TV.

One thing you can't say is that MJ doesn't know how to mentor. First of all, this man knows music and songs. Go back and read his autobiography, it's boring when he talks about his personal life, but when he talks about music, songwriting, performing, he knows what he's talking about. So many people keep on focusing on the bullshit, people forget that this man knows music, good music. Not saying he's the best at it(songwriting and producing), but he knows it and can explaining it.

i dont think its boring when he talks about his personal life, many people still find it intresting and there have been endless programmes about him over the years, here in the uk especially. Also i doubt he will go on the x factor. neutral

The X factor is the equivalent of America's Got Talent. I mean how cheesy is that? Not to mention the fact that the hosts on that show hate MJ. Him going on the X factor will be tacky and embarrassing. I hope he doesn't do it.

Prince couldnt be anymore of a whore if he tried. Infact he's worse than most because he's willing to diss shows like AI, as well as appear on them singing over a backing track. Claims he's not in "the music business" when he clearly is. Whoring his name out for crap perfumes, and anything big enough to have a symbol stamped on it.
Not that Jackson isnt just as guilty, but he's never to my knowledge claimed to be anything more than a popstar. Prince wants to have his cake, eat it, then claim the cake never existed.

All popstars are whores these days, it goes with the job. You kiss arse when you have to and rebel when you dont, lather rinse repeat.

Good point.

Alot of people say how much of a sell-out Michael is and that he is pretty much the definition of the term. But IMO, he hasn't sold-out as much as most artists. Because he's never claimed to be anything but a popstar, as you said. Selling out is going against what you believe in to make a buck. Michael never went into the industry as a rebellious anti-industry indie guy. He has always been a sell as much as you can while you can kind of popstar. So he hasn't sold-out at all.

"In 2003, when pop star Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch was raided in a search for evidence regarding child molestation charges, a pastiche of The Last Supper was found. It depicts a similar scene, except this one has Jackson posing in the position of Jesus, with the apostles replaced by great creative figures of history."

Kinda disagree
Prince used AI for his own advantage...
Thus he isn't the whore...
He's the pimp...
And as much as i dislike him as a person...
At this point in time...
He is probably the most business Savy pop star around...
Cause everybody is drowningg these days...
And he does what he can to stay afloat...
Have newspapers to give away his albums, pen only distribution deals with labels,
Sues his wide range of copyrighting and bootleggin fans
That bible totin midget has pretty much survived without whoring himself like hes done in the past...
Rave... Chaos (contractual obligation or not)
He's created this type of hybrid between Pop & Indie artist
And your right he wants to be both
but the prick is doing it
and you can't fault him for it...

While MJ was always an industry lackey...
But MJ has enough leverage in the industry to get rid of his antogonizerz...

I dont see your argument here. A picture of himself as jesus is certainly... well "mental" for want of a better term. But as far as his role in the music industry...?

AI seems to go against everything he stands for (real music etc) But he did it for the money.

everybody is drowningg these days...And he does what he can to stay afloat...Have newspapers to give away his albums, pen only distribution deals with labels, Sues his wide range of copyrighting and bootleggin fans

Well it depends how you look at it, the mail on sunday is arguably borderline racist. So either he didnt look at 1 copy of the paper before signing the deal, or he didnt care because they had the cash.

Rave... Chaos (contractual obligation or not) He's created this type of hybrid between Pop & Indie artist And your right he wants to be both but the prick is doing it and you can't fault him for it...

Pretty much agree with that, altho as an indie artist he has zero credibility since he'll jump into bed with billy big bucks when he wants something.

wle MJ was always an industry lackey...
But MJ has enough leverage in the industry to get rid of his antogonizerz...
IE Matolla...

Jackson has was and always will be a media whore of epic proportions. Give him the money and he'll dance. He's been fairly open about it. The "king of pop" thing just enforces that. He wants to be the biggest and isnt ashamed how he gets there.
With Prince, you know he wants the money and fame, but he doesnt want to admit it. (ie "real music real musicians... i'm just popping off to American Idol, but this doesnt count ok?"). He wants to be seen as a credible indie artist, but he wants the discretion to "sell out" at will and not have it held against him when he's playing "mr indie"

Hey, not to get way off the subject, but since you know the business so well, what do you think of Live Nation and the deal it is offering to Madonna?

The live nation might be a good idea...
But i seriously think Ole madge is getting tired of touring and because its probably taking a toll on her body...
180 million is alot of money...
It'll probvably turn into 200 mil Because warners is renegotiating...
I wouldn't do it...
10 years seems like a mighty long time
after all she is a mom...
And the way she tours is maddenning
But 180 is alot of fucking money for tours and potential albums...
to weigh in on it i'd have to know more about the conract, how much artistic freedon, Is hiatus time included..., How many albums are gonna be done within that frame of time... and if their needs to be a sort of revenue catch to it,
some type of insurance..
Like if she decides to commit career suicide, by calling the pope a nazi Bag - O - Shit, Doees that give live nation liability to bail on her...
lots of stuff comes into the mix
so i dunno
but thats alot of fucking money...

It's not gonna happen... like I told you! It got denied by Michael's spokesperson:

Thanks so much for your kind letter. I'm so glad that you, and all of the fans,
like the photo shoot. Mr. Jackson enjoyed the shoot with Bruce Webber.

As to your question, it is not true that Mr. Jackson will be a part of the
X-Factor.

My regards to all.

Best.
