The Godfather of Metal: Ozzy Osbourne If James Brown is the godfather of soul...Mr.Osbourne must be the godfather of metal!!!
I love this guy, from his early (and glorious) years with Black Sabbath to his successful solo albums from the 80's and 90's, this man is the TRUE LEGEND of the entire metal history, his biography is fascinating: his troubled childhood, his drug abuse, his bipolar mental disorder, the tragic death of his best friend and music ally, Randy Rhoads, his "insane" years (:nutso:he try to kill his own wife , and, completely stoned, he killed his 34 cats with a Magnum and a knife ) or his unexpected recovery with the help of Zakk Wylde at the early 90's, the Sabbath reunion and the Osbournes tv show, which I found amusing (at least the first episodes ) Also, he's one of the few metal artist who is TRULY respected, even by the poeple who doesn't like heavy metal. Blizzard of Ozz is easily my fav hard-rock/metal album of the 80's and I love all his hits from the 80's and 90's: Flying High Again, Crazy Train, Bark at the moon, Shot in the dark, Crazy Babies, Hellraiser, Mama I'm coming Home, I just want you etc, and his last effort, Black Rain, is a very strong modern metal album . Yeah, some of his stage antics are goofy and his voice is too nasal, but that's the key of his charm: he is the best/most charismatic metal singer/performer though he isn't the most technically gifted (like Mick Jagger) Ladies and gents, the Elvis of metal, Mr. Ozzy Osbourne: [Edited 8/17/07 15:52pm] | |
