I hate all Songs by Luther Vandross and Freddie Jackson!

I needed to get this off of my chest. I hate Luther Vandross Music, I don't have a problem with him! I have a problem with him being labeled as a Master of the love ballad. I don't have a problem with him being gay. I have a problem with him portraying himself as a ladies man in all of his videos. It was obvious that he was gay. But you always seen him in romantic situations with women in the videos. I remember back in the day, if someone mentioned that he might be gay people were about ready to fight you lol . It was funny how people who were homophobes loved Luther and they swore up and down that he was straight.

At least George Michael gave us obvious clues that he was gay. Remember when he used to wear those booty shorts. I swear I seen him kiss Andrew Ridgley once in a video.

Like I stated I don't have a problem with him being gay, but I didn't like the way he was portrayed. Besides everything else, i just can't stand his voice. I also think all of his songs sounded the same. Plus they still play the shit out of his music.

Is there anybody else who hates his music.

If you hate his songs so much, why do you "buy" them?

I can understand the criticism of Luther's ballads and his image, but can you deny even his upbeat tracks (I'm not talking about "Having A Party"). I mean, "Stop For Love" and "Never Too Much" are fun tracks!

Give me one Luther Song that was Funky? There have been songs using Luther Samples that were Funky. Just think of that Foxy Brown and Blackstreet. Also Janet has sampled him a few times.

He never came out publically to the media but I do know that in the presence of several people, he flaunted it in a very bitchy way and didn't give a fuck if people liked it or not. He carried himself in a "I'm better than you" kind of way. I never cared him previously to seeing this, but after seeing this, as a gay person, I was very impressed and have much admiration for him.

Agreed. Add "The Glow of Love" to that list as well. Luther definitly had some fun dance tracks. And I don't really have a problem with the fact that Luther was gay and portrayed himself as a Ladies Man in his music. I mean he obviously didn't want to come out and that was his right. He still had a great voice and made some very memorable songs.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

yeah--and that ain't a luther song anyway, jaime. luther sung lead vocals on it, yeah, but it wasn't a sole luther vandross joint.

Exactly!! Whether or not Luther was gay how zero to do with how I perceive those songs. Plus, Luther music will still get guys panties.

i guess it wasn't luther's fault he was protrayed like that. I just think it was funny how people wanted to change him into a sex symbal to women. It is very similar to what happened to Tevin Campbell. Tevin was an artist that I still like his music. But remember when Tevin was on the fresh prince of Belair as a love interest to the girl on the show. That was funny.

What they did to luther was is similar what the did to whitney. Remember how whitney had a squeaky clean and classy image back in the early eighties. There were some reports back in the day that Whitney was a hood rat, but nobody believed it until she hooked up with bobby and got involved with drugs. Whitney what a wasted Talent!

Knowing that he may have been gay didn't make me change my overall attitude for the music. His orientation didn't sway me into feeling a certain way about any love songs. They are beautiful just coming out of his mouth and that's is what is most important.

Exactly. With a voice like that, she could have been doing some hardcore ass-shakin' funk. Instead, she wasted her talent making that boring ass watered down, pop crossover, adult contemporary R&B bullshit that she made. What's worse, is she was a big influence on others to make the same dull shit. She should have been throwing down.....hard.

I've always got criticism about being a Prince Fan. I don't care what floats his boat. Nobody knows but him. If you bring the funk I don't care. Being gay had nothing to do with me disliking his music. Saying something bad about luther, is like saying something bad about the Pope or something. I have Gay people in my family and gay co-workers. Gayness doesn't really bother me. As long as somebody is a good person I don't really give a shit. If your gay be gay, don't pretend to be something your not. That goes with everything in life. just be yourself.

Listen to "She's A Super Lady" from his first album. That jam is pure funk. Also, check out his work with the group Change, The BB&Q Band, and his production work on Aretha Franklin's "Get It Right".

Luther had a funky side. The late 80s is when he became boring as hell. Of course, in the late 80s, it seems like everyone was losing all sense of funk.
