Sly and the family were just brilliant. Listening to it today, the music is just as "fresh" as it was over 30 years ago now.
Can you even imagine living in LA in 1966 and going to see Sly on one nite and Hendrix on another nite? Two artists that will impact music for years to come (imo). Most of that music is so ahead of its time that maybe in 50 years, someone will say, "hey, that's what they were talking about". GCS is just plain funky. One word; Hair.

there's a website in the works
www.slystone.com. it's still under construction, but seems 2 become really cool. sly has an incredible low profile 2day. there R a lot of rumours circulating. but still, nothing new. he's 1 of the greatest legends of music. peace/manki

Sly&The Family Stone to Me are the Greatest Rock&Roll Band Period.Sly was doing it all&thensome IMHO.what a Run they Had? as for Graham Centeral Station: Loved there Jams for a while they were bringing the Funk.I Give Larry alot of Props for coming out of a Successful Run with a Great Band like Sly&The Family Stone&Finding His Own Idenity.that is so Hard to Form a Band that has any kind of Success&Brings the Jams.dig them Both but Sly&The Family Stone was far Better overall IMHO of the two.Sly in His Peak was Scary. mistermaxxx

Yeah, there's nothing like a good greatest hits compilation of Graham Central Station! Though Larry definitely should've retired completely by 1982...
