it is funny that someone mentioned Griff....but then i found this clip.....

i can see that Griff has a point...check out this clip

http://www.youtube.com/wa...vNBVDr6jZk

but then again, Flav has always been acting like that and on the show it looked to me as if he was just being himself and trying to score with as many girls as he could.....who can blame him for that?

they were never off limits where i came from, shit i dont know where u grew up,but where i hailed from... there were no limits in playin the dozens. and fuck griff, he's the least relevant member of PE anyway

Griff the least relevant member of PE? You really don't have a clue man. I was raised to be proud of myself and to never make "blackness" or "darkness" be a negative thing. Thank God my parents instilled that in me. NOBODY will disrespect my heritage or complexion. Flav is a disappointment. That slave minded-shit is pathetic. Katt, Ice T, Snoop, and any other wannabe pimp needs to have their asses whupped.

I want to respond to this, cause I find it interesting how offended you are by the color jokes. I understand where your coming from, but at the same time, I don't agree with the reason why you're offended. It's a roast, and in these events, all is fair game. I can respect the pride you have over your heritage, but at certain points, it's important to take the piss out of your heritage. In other words, laughing at the stereotypes that go with who you are show some sort of comfort and take away the serious issues that go with it. Obviously,Flava was having a blast. No one got seriously offended. Let them laugh at themselves and take the piss out of their stereotypes and images. I'm saying this as a hispanic who can appreciate a good joke using the word beaner and the stereotype of those with Mexican heritage fitting 12 people in a car lol

The Roast was all good. The weak link was Jimmie Kimmel's wack ass jokes. Otherwise, it's straight laugh fest for those who aren't uptight with this polictiallly correct bullshit.

I agree. Jimmy Kimmel was a major disappointment. He's usually way better playing the dozens than that.

hang on man,

have you ever played the dozens?, we've all said shit and thats what roasts are about playin' the fuckin dozens,as a fan of PE and used to live on Strong Island and know these cats on a personal level, you cannot sit there and talk about how this shit is a minstrel show and shit like that.

it was about fuckin around and tellin' jokes and playin the dozens regardless about them sayin how black he was n shit.. so fuckin what.i get called "Hi Yella" do i care no... should you?... no.. get over it.

Yeah, I played the dozens & "dark skin" jokes were OFF LIMITS. I happen to know for a fact that Griff is disgusted by Flav's behavior. Roasts are also traditionally done by FRIENDS of the roastee...The Comedy Central roast is a brand and having a bunch of white guys make jokes about his complexion was unnacceptable...even more shameful to hear other Black people say negative things about "how dark" someone is. Self-hatred ain't funny. That's some slave-shit (like the origin of the dozens).

Professor Griff has hated almost everything Flav has ever done for himself as a lone entertainer. Griff's bitterness toward Bridgette is very well known.

But keep in mind that Chuck D was the one that drop Flav off at this roast. So knowing that brand new controversy was going to be produce, why in the hell did Chuck even bother to provide transportation for Flav to begin with?

Think about it.

FYI, Chuck & Flav filmed that limo segment on a separate day. Chuck had nothing to do with the roast itself. Chuck doesn't even ride in limos!!!

Chuck D on Flavor's Roast:"...I guess this is like the black family where really no one gets put out the crib instead gets told to keep their room door shut. Please BTP a 1989 reference is outta context here in 007. Its a complex gathering. Here within a delivery of a good record lies the doubt whether Flav is down for the cause. Hes down more than ever, when hes with the crew. But when he's on his own ....he's on his own. There was a time when on his own meant meandering around the police laden streets of the Bronx, with nothing but time and potential trouble on his hands. Now instead he's roaming through the media and Hollywood on that same time. Yeah I'd like to steer some of the direction and make his manager understand the big picture...roasts, game shows, video games, .....I don't spend a second watching them and to anyone fooled by tv on my participation....it was done separately at another time."

nod Valid point. You're dead on it. The complexion jokes were absolutely a dark cloud ( no pun intended) on the event and not necessary.

THINK ABOUT IT.
It's just comedy right?

[Edited 8/14/07 21:01pm]

I agree with a lot of what paparobbie said along with some others on here. I would like to start off by saying Flavor Flav is a Minstrel Show along with 97% of most current day rappers. Professor Griff isn't relevent so who gives a fuck what he says. He is the same idiot slamming jewish people about 15 years ago.

I thought the roast was hilarious except for the color jokes. I don't think it is apropriate to make fun of somebody's color. But the thing that bothered me the most was when white guys were talking about somebody being too dark.

Other than racial stuff, nothing should be off limits in a roast. So for the most part, it was funny. I don't mind some stereotypical jokes, they are ok at the right place and time, and it depends on who is saying them. If you are a white guy that has no black friends you should not be telling jokes like that. But if you are white and have close friends who happen to be black, I don't have a problem with it as long as their black friends don't mind.

I'm glad that we are so politically correct now a days. I think it has made a difference with race relations. America has always had race issues and will always continue to do so. At least political correctness puts the "Followers" in check. Remember in the 1980's when all black people on tv were potrayed and junkies and crooks. It least now black people are portrayed in a better light which i feel makes a difference.

Just think if you were a white person that lives somewhere where there are no black people where they live. And this White person turned the TV and seen the images that were portrayed of black people in the 1980's. If this white person never met a black person before, look at the perception they would have.

This is why I have a problem with todays rap music looking like minstrel shows. In the rap word "ignorance is bliss". In other words they think it is cool to talk and act ignorant. Example: Hurricane Chris with the song "hey bay bay". WTF!!! It's a shame that many successful rappers of the 80's like Heavy D and Will Smith don't get airplay today because they aren't keeping it real " Ignorant"!
