It was a great show. Ms. Bofill's voice was great. I saw her and Peabo Byrson in concert in 1982 or 1983. They were great together.

nod Back in the early 80's , she would tour with Peabo quite often. Those were excellent shows.

Maybe it is just me, but I really look forward to the Best of Soul Train episodes. My wife does not understand it. She knows not to bother me when it comes on. I guess I love walking down memory lane.

I do not think the new shows are a rumor. I loved the music, fashion, and babes of the "Best Of" shows. Also, Louie was doing his thing which kept me laughing.

I have firnally seen it and, man, was it different back then. I was actually with some friends when we were watching this. And they're apart of the Hip-Hop generation so we were all laughing at them. lol Especially that one brother with the khaki suit on. They're like "Isn't that your uncle"?. lol

But it was great to hear the classic tunes from O'Bryan, George Clinton, and our little purple hero.

This episode was OK but most of the songs played on this particular episode were extremely popular songs that have been played over and over throughout the years. My favorite episodes are ones that have a song that hasn't been played for years in it.

This episode originally aired on May 28,1983.I have a feeling that it was probably taped several weeks before that. Many of these songs were popular in the early part of '83.By late spring, songs like "Atomic Dog" were old news.

Don would've played it in the beginning months of 1983 if it hadn't been for his brain surgery that year. As soon as he came back, the new theme song was added to "Soul Train".

That's correct. The Vanity 6/Carl Carlton episode is the last episode they taped before Don had brain surgery. For several weeks, they were forced to show re-runs.That's why many episodes from the late spring of '83 featured songs/artists that were popular several months earlier.

Yeah,I pray that the "new" episodes are just a rumor. They should just continue to show the re-runs.I won't watch any new episodes.

the early 80's were a great time for music & fashion.

Of course back them on the Train, the dancers would coordinate their outfits and have some folks design them.
