but her new stuff just leaves me a little...unmoved-i found GOLDEN for want of a better word boring..!

and "hate on me" is leaving me a little cold but hey! jill gave me her debut album and"he loves me' and'a long walk" so i will always have love for her!

I love some Jill Scott too and I usually hear that song everyday on the radio while I'm at work...It's catchy but I really don't love the song.

Hate on me go on and hate on me, I'm not afraid...Many-be a video might do good...Especially one like "Getting in my way".

The whole "Haters gonna hate" is just bullshit, overrated and overcredited.

I think she did this shit in a quick huff.

I can't stand her. She has a good voice, but her songs always seem to be about nothing.

Jilly can come better than "hate on me hater"

I haven't been digging Jill since her first album.

Golden is unbearable to listen to.

her first album had all the hits but then again, I never heard of her other albums but what came out on the radio. I do really love "he loves me" I had that as a ring tone...it also gets me in the mood

I have heard all of her albums. All of her songs seem to turn into one big "ghetto" love story. I'm not saying thats bad, but it's not my style.

I bought all her albums but don´t even remember the name of the last one ( with that pic of her as a child), I gave that CD to my brother and haven´t even missed it since then because I found it extremely boring.
I liked her a lot when she first came out and bought her third release out of reflex because I liked the first two but now I´m kinda fed up with all that melisma and oversinging she´s doing, and her lyrics aren´t that great either.
Too bad that most folks equate stretching shit with good singing as soon as they think they are some sort of superstar...at least that´s the vibe I´m getting from her.Same goes for MJ.Blige and some other artists ...
First album was great, second was OK ( not great....the oversinging ruined it), third one is extremely boring...won´t buy the next release.

Seeing her in Block Party gave me the rest. It´s cool that she´s doing what she´s doing but her singing isn´t my cup of tea.

This is the ONLY board yet where I have ever heard people telling the honest truth about Jill! Seriously. I liked her first cd, but she haven't done it for me since then. I also gave away her 2nd album. I am so glad I can easily admit that without setting up an argument.

What a shame , actually, because I know she is genuinely nice and has a lot of talent but that melisma, stretching, oversinging style of hers is really, seriously, bugging me a lot.
MaryJ´s done the same, and that´s when she lost me.

We talked about this quite a lot with Eric Leeds during the Xenophobia 2002 Celebration....that some singers overuse melisma and all.

I´d rather listen to some less talented singer sing a good song than hear some really good singers oversing their own beautiful songs to death.

i love the song its jill and i think the world need 2 realize she is hot everybody cant b beyonce all styles needed
