Tank is a talented dude. He sings well, dances and plays keys and guitar.

Yeah, every time I've seen him, the price has been $12-17, which is good because it's not like getting gouged every time you want to see someone you like play. He was awesome both times I saw him last year, and I'm glad to hear that he's got a label that might just actually RESPECT him this time around.

Maybe it's based on the venue/market or something. I saw him @ the Independent in SF last year for $25 - worth every penny, his show was great love

I saw a secret show he did where he was trying out the new band, and that one was just $12, but the other one I saw was at a venue that held about 150-200 people and I think the tix were just $17. Production costs play a bit part of the ticket prices and these two venues I saw him at are pretty bottom of the barrel as far as "production" goes. lol

I agree with the "Lost Highway" perspective of Blue Note. Van Hunt is damn sure talented enough to be on the label. I hope they will do right by him. If he had been promoted right in the forst place, he could be a lot bigger than he is but the industry is anti-musician when it comes to black male artists.

Tank's marketing didn't appeal to me. He just seemed like a another hip-pop poseur. And I suspect that the music industry has become less inclined to get behind brothers that can play instruments.

yeah i would agree 100%. Im going off what i have seen from Tank in his videos and it seems its that same old RB/Hip Hop male cliche. Dude has his shirt open, bunch of hot girls around etc etc... Dont get me wrong i dont mind seeing hot women around, but is this what RB has become? i totally blame the merger of Rap/RB for this, collabos like Joe and G/Unit and Joe and Mase and shit like that.

I heard Usher described on the radio the other day as a "hip-hop star." Other R&B crooners are described similarly. I still see and hear references to Bobby Brown as a "rapper." It's blending together.

Of course ,Bobbby Brown got the rapping title before even going solo. While he was in NE, he would do great deal of the rapping along with Bivens in the group.

When Tank started, he used to play keyboards live and sing at the same time on his ballads. When performing, he started doing a backflip on stage like Sisqo does. Then he went the Ginuwine direction with his stage performance which ultimately led to R&B/rap collabos and bullshit like that.

Tank didn't need all that fluff. He's already proven himself as an producer. So he should just let his talent flow through. Besides, there is enough fluff out there.
