Bowie's Mini Marathon Tour Taken directly from billboard.com-
Bowie Plans 'Marathon' Mini-Tour Catch him if you can! With a routing inspired by the footrace of the same name, David Bowie will launch the seven-date New York City Marathon tour Oct. 11 on Staten Island. The artist will visit small venues in the city's other four boroughs through the following Sunday's gig at Manhattan's Beacon Theatre. Afterward, Bowie will play rare theater engagements in Philadelphia (Oct. 21) and Boston (Oct. 23). "The last time I came through the Northeast it was on the Area2 tour," Bowie said in a statement. "We played in amphitheaters which are usually a good distance from the major cities. Marathon courses are strategically planned to bring the runners to the streets. I would like to repay the fans that traveled so far to see me by bringing my show to them. But most importantly, I could get home from all the gigs on roller skates." Tickets to the shows go on sale Friday (Oct. 4), with members of the artist's BowieNet fan organization getting first crack via a special pre-sale. Bowie is touring in support of his recent ISO/Columbia album "Heathen," which debuted at No. 14 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 176,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Bowie plays London's Carling Apollo Wednesday; in 1973, the venue played host to the artist's final concert in his Ziggy Stardust persona. Here are David Bowie's tour dates: Oct. 2: London (Carling Apollo) Oct. 11: Staten Island, N.Y. (Music Hall at Snug Harbor) Oct. 12: Brooklyn (St. Anne's Warehouse) Oct. 16: Queens, N.Y. (Queens College Golden Center) Oct. 17: Bronx, N.Y. (Jimmy's Bronx Cafe) Oct. 20: New York (Beacon Theatre) Oct. 21: Philadelphia (Tower Theatre) Oct. 23: Boston (Orpheum Theatre) Having seen him twice since June, I can assure you that this is well worth the time, money and effort to go. If I could afford to make it back to NYC to see all of these shows I would do it in a heartbeat. I've followed tour reports from all over the US and Europe and his setlists just keep getting better and better. Since these are intimate club dates, he's sure to deliver the goods.
