Thanks for making a post about this.
I saw her Highline Ballroom show listed in my local paper. I want to try and check her out because I love her music. But -- I suppose I'm in the minority with this -- I am a fan of Queen Latifah the emcee when she churning out stuff like U.N.I.T.Y, Ladies First, Come Into My House, even Go Head. If I go to Queen La's show I'd prefer to hear her emceeing because I like her style and delivery. I heard she really gets the crowd into it when she does. But since it's just going to be just a melodic/jazz show, I'll probably pass on this. ... [Edited 8/23/07 6:40am]

But....since she is known for rap, she may inject some of it into the show.... Hopefully someone will respond to you that has seen her live..... "Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Yeah, that "non-rap" reference in the promo does set off a lot of bells and whistles. lol She'll probably throw maybe one or two of her classic rap songs in there, but my guess is that it'll be slowed down and made more jazzy. Don't get me wrong, I think Queen La is lovely as a songstress. I did like "Winki's Theme" a lot. I guess she's abandoning the rap because it's obvious she's making more money record-wise singing. I think The Dana Owens LP eventually outsold her biggest chart-topper 1993's Black Reign? I don't blame her for going this route. ... [Edited 8/23/07 6:56am]
