The org non-Prince music forum is SUPPOSED to be about intelligent music discussion...and STILL you don't have shit to say or contribute to this thread. Ah how cute. The heeled switch hitter in the UK is angry and trying to act like a big man by trying to curse me online. Switchhitter just save all that noise for one of your hags ( ms legs won't be one of them), put on your drag and heels for tonight show in the UK, and face it that you've made yourself look bad by logging in under multiple post and not standing up for yourself like a man. Why don't you just say fuck it and come out the closet like Elton and George Micheal and you'll save yourself alot of grieve and then you won't have to take your misery out on the Org, the Quake or other places on the net Switchhitter. Quit the fucking masquerade. [Edited 8/9/07 11:08am] "heels" "tonight show in the UK"...OMG...are you trying to say that he's Prince? [Edited 8/12/07 19:25pm]

First you say that Common is a sellout, but then deride him for selling less than a million domestically. So, he's a sellout, but his career hasn't been validated in your eyes because he's not sold enough records? And if selling out results in selling more records, and Tupac has sold many more records than Common, then what does that make 'Pac? See the problems? This dude went from conscious rapper with a burgeoning career in the early to mid 90s, then Cube blew him out the water with WC and Mack 10 with the song "Westside Slaughterhouse" as a response to Common's "I Used to Love H.E.R.." (diss to the West, particularly gangsta rap), and then Common returned fire with the venomous "The Bitch In Yoo" but after that, Common kinda fizzled out.
He dropped the album "One Day It'll All Make Sense" in 97 to little fanfare. Again, critics liked it but not much of a following beyond that. Then in 2000 he dropped "Like Water for Chocolate" and he made some noise with that (it went gold and was critically-acclaimed as well as commercially-acclaimed) and again yet again, he kinda faded out. Then he started messing with Badu and he went BoHo with macrame hats and shit, and that got him attention for his style of dress rather than his career, which was waning more so at that point. He did the cut with Macy Gray "Ghetto Heaven" and he started to slowly shine again, also with the release of the critically-acclaimed "Electric Circus" but the sales didn't match "Chocolate". But it wasn't until he got with Kanye and started to blew up to where he is now - movies and guest appearances here and there - he's the only rapper I recall that had a nearly dormant rap career and then came back to rise close to the top. He's the new "It" guy for rap and he's accessible for white America to embrace as well without the heat of the negative part of Hip Hop/Rap. Now that's a comeback fo' yo ass. exactly, you have a strong point here. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I don't think Common went anywhere either. He's just finally getting the recognition he probably should've received a long time ago. He's a dope MC and he loves Prince too! Prince shouted him out at the Chicago theater at one of his gigs a few years back. It's probably a good thing that his popularity has grown slowly but surely instead of too quickly like some artists that fade as quickly as they've risen. I didn't even know last night was the ten year anniversary of Prince Night. I'm sure glad I went! I've been going off and on since 1997.

first of all, Jolina, welcome to the Org. second of all, I agree with what you've saying. 3d of all, is that Prince Night at the Berlin? Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Why do people keep thinking I said Common was "gone"?
All I said was his career was nearly dormant and then Kanye helped him blowuptuate to where he is now. That was his comeback from a lull in his career. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher
