I also think he took a lot of unneccessary flak for Electric Circus which was actually a damn good cd. Of course if you only think about the wacked out track jimi was a rock star with erykah badu of course you would think common was on some bohemian trip. Besides Come Close, the hustle, star 69, Soul Power, and between me,you, and liberation where he talks about aids and cancer. I actually liked electric circus better than be. Not to say be isn't good because it is but electric circus was more though provoking along the lines as like water for chocalate but not classic as that masterpiece. It makes me boiling mad when the majority of youth that listens to hip hop feel hip hop has to be ignorant and degrading to be accepting. That is why it took common a long time to be accepted. His association with fellow chicagoan with kanye west just made him more acceptable to the mainstream. So of course common has made the greatest hip hop comeback ever. He just came back from the damn bank?
- He went BoHo. His clothes and vibe told us that. - He "never left," but he certainly "fell off" from his early-mid 90s debut. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

yes sir! I totally agree. 'Electric Circus' is a freakin masterpiece. Like water.. was def. on another level.Especially the Fela interludes.'Like Water..' really gets good during the 2nd half, but its laced w/ a few to many n*#**@'s for my taste. Kind of took away from the lyrics, but thats just my opinion. 'Electric Circus' was Comm's game on 10, backed by tracks that highlighted just how nice my headphones can sound.'Heaven Somewhere' is flawless! As for 'Finding Forever'..Its cool. Sounds like a natural progression to 'Be'. Its good to see Common getting the success that he's enjoying right now. He def. deserves it. Anywho to get back to the thread, Common is not making a comeback because it's true he hasn't gone anywhere. I do dislike the fact that it took an association with Kanye to get him the recognition he's always deserved. Electric Circus is one of the most artistic hip-hop albums ever released (as well as Q-Tip's still unreleased Kamaal the Abstract), yet Andre 3000 got all the accolades in 2003. I enjoy Be and Finding Forever a lot, however, I do hope that Com will go back to pushing the envelope musically as well as lyrically.

[Edited 8/9/07 10:48am] Other than exposing yourself as a bitch with some serious homophobic issues and a lack of dick in your life, do you have ANY knowledge of Common at all. You still haven't contributed to this thread. For the record here's a list of the usernames I've had in this joint: psykosoul, chickengrease, Rumpofsteelskin, TheCookieMan, Stinkyweaselteats, and TaddyPaddinger. And I'd say the same thing to you under all of those names. NOW once again, because I'm trying to be civil to your ign't ass, do you have anything of value to add to this discussion about Common because I'm sure there are some other enjoyable threads in these forums that you can decorate with emoticons and your patented "you tell 'em (*insert your choice of tA, blackguitaristz, funkpill, etc*)

Making a comeback doesn't always mean you vanished, just that you weren't living up to your previous hype, that's all. I guess that's where I disagree. I think One Day It'll All Make Sense, Like Water for Chocolate and Electric Circus lived up to the hype... even though 2 of those albums were released on major labels, Common was still relying on his underground following. Hell, add Resurrection to that list too.

I never thought Common Sense went anywhere. I always considered him an undeground artist that has slowly gained mainstream attention. Therefore, I don't think there was a "comeback" [Edited 8/9/07 11:23am]

Undergrounders know the artist but the mass population doesn't. Hell, I just saw him on ESPN the other day rapping! He's got movie deals now. THAT'S a ressurection of a career.
