J.Lo should've been nominated for an Oscar for this one. She will never be able to top her performance in this film, ever! I'm definitely getting this in September.

If Halle Berry could get an oscar for her mediocre acting in "Monster's Ball", I don't see why J.LO couldn't. She really was great in Selena!

Cool. I gotta get this. I cry everytime!

Did they show the directors cut on tv? That was the first time I saw it

I swore there was a scene where Selena gets made fun of at school. When I watched the dvd, that scene wasnt on there.

Ah, this was a great film.

When I saw it, "Players Club" was on at the same time and I wanted to watch them both. I decided I would watch one and tape the other.

Being 14 at the time I decided that it would probably be a good idea to watch Selena and record Players Club. Bad idea.

I ended up really enjoying Selena and wanting to see it again....then a couple of days later I watched Players Club and it sucked ass.

anyway I hope this comes out in the UK.

well, that's where you and i will have to agree to disagree...while Monster Ball is not everyone's cup of tea to call Berry's acting mediocre is just something I can't fathom. Subtle? sure...but bad?

Yeah, me neither. She's been in some good films like Losing Isaiah, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, and not to mention, her new one, Perfect Stranger. I don't see why people keep saying they were disappointed in her performance in Monster's Ball. I thought it was interesting, but J.LO did her thing in Selena. Maybe I was exaggerating about her getting an Oscar nomination, but it is true that after Selena, she starred in some horrible films with her heartless and cold performances. Her performance in Selena was great and it was the tour-de-force of her entire career, IMHO.

Well I just wasn't that impressed with her acting in "Monsters Ball" and I sure as hell don't think she deserved to win an oscar for it. I have enjoyed her acting in the past and thought she was good in movies such as Jungle fever and Introducing Dorothy Dandridge but she is no Angela Bassett or somebody. Halle is a bit overrated as an actress IMO.
