The White Stripes

I just bought their album a couple of days ago and listened to it tonight, and I think the entire album rocks! There is not one bad song on there, in my opinion. What do you all think? They remind me a little of Led Zeppelin. It's quite good considering it's just the two of them... the only thing I wish would go away is the red/white/black thing they got goin' on.

I don't dig them at all... they are being pushed by the label and all that, but they will fall off quite quickly.

Also see The Strokes... 15 minutes are up, boys.

Well... I like that the "rock" is coming back instead of listening to the girl/boy groups. Really... this album is good... I will MAKE YOU listen to it!

The Strokes, I like the single that they have out... but I haven't purchased the album yet to give a fair opinion.

The White Stripes, The Vines, The Hives, The Strokes... what is going on here? smile

I wish that REAL rock would make a comeback, but I can't dig cats who are too insistent on trying to be retro... it is a gimmick and it will not last.

And... okay, you can make me listen to them very soon... biggrin

TRON

I was really excited about this album for about 2 days. That first single seemed really cool so I bought the album. Now they sound like a 2nd rate, 3rd generation version of the Pixies. I don't like their look. I don't like that they're a duo. I don't like that they're married. I don't like that they won't get rid of that color scheme. The Shit Wipes are a bore. Sorry Azure, not trying to rain on your parade. I had high hopes for them and was let down. Give me The Strokes anyday. Now that is a fun album.

sad Well... I think it is cool that there is just the two of them... their look sucks, the color scheme sucks... I do like the music though... I am probably the only one here that does...

The Strokes are good then?! Worth buying?

Well, many would disagree with me but I think The Strokes seemed very fresh at the time. Now they're lumped in with the whole garage rock revival thing. But I remember when I first saw the video for "Last Nite" I was like 'holy shit, this is cheap!' And I liked it for that. Everything on MTV seems so pre-fab and perfect that it was nice to see someone unbathed, gritty and drinking beer for the first time in years. I've heard so many people say they're just Stooges ripoffs but their songs are really tight. Their 2 part guitar interplay is also very fun. They may disappear and not have the career they deserve because of their assosciation with all these other bands. But oh well. It was fun while it lasted. Now I hear all this hype about Interpol being the next Joy Division. If that becomes all the rage, I think I'm gonna hang myself in my closet.

Totally in to the White Stripes. White Blood Cells is a great album. Fell in Love With a Girl, Offend In Every Way, and We're Going to Be Friends are very original and fun and nicely executed. Can't wait to see what they do next.

BTW, I dig the red/white/black thing. It's odd, but who cares, it's stylin'.

I haven't picked up their album yet Azure. But I dig the single.

The Strokes are ok. I think all their songs sound the same and they are VERY boring to watch live. I like the Hives single though, do you have their album? Is it worth buying?

Well, I bought their first album (The White Stripes), and I like the songs on this better than their new single, which says a lot because I do like their new single! smile

I don't have The Hives album yet. I've downloaded some of their songs, but haven't listened to them yet to know whether I want to buy the album or not.

Queens of the Stone Age seem to be very cool. Although I'm judging by one single.

And Foo Fighters have a new album coming out.

White Stripes ROCK!!!
Hotel Yorba is awesome, as is the whole of their latest album. An excellent little band. So there a duo, so they've got a weird color scheme going on
They Kick Ass
IMO

Queens of The Stone Age's latest is the business. Rock music thats not aimed at kids for once. They're an incredible live band too, no gimmicks, no posing, they just rock fucking hard. I've had the new Foos album a couple of weeks. It's much better than the previous album(which i thought was too safe and "nice") and a really great return to form.

The White Stripes i have a love/hate relationship with. Jack's voice just grates me sometimes. I know he's not that old his voice isn't mature enough to sing the blues and he seems to force an accent with his vocals. They sound superb though. Huge fat blues sound and yeah they do often sound like Led Zeppelin, which is a very good thing. Check out their cover of the blues classic Stop Breakin Down from their debut album..amazing stuff.

Get Queens Of The Stone Age's Songs For The Deaf, believe me it's real rock.
