I bought Justin's album when it came out.

As soon as it finished I put Invincible back on.

Awww, Little Susie and Smile are wicked, and I'm in a minority of people who love Gone Too Soon. It's all about the vocal delivery and sincerity in his voice smile

especially the live version of 'gone too soon' sung at bill clinton's inauguration party back in 1992(?).. beautiful moment.

Gone Too Soon is an okay track. Compared to Speechless, The Lost Children or You Are My Life, it's fairly weak.

I really hate this album, I bought it without listening 2 it first, when I came home and put it in my cd player I was so disappointed I couldn't even listen 2 it 2 finish. I tried to have several of my friends listen 2 it but they dispised it!!! Even a person at work who is a MJ fan disliked the album and asked me 2 stop playing it!
Needless 2 say it's just another cdside in my ever expanding cd universe at home smile

:I: can't believe y'all R dumping on this album!
:I: personally feel that it's his best album since "Off The Wall", mayB it should have been released years ago as it does sound aged, but it beats that HIStory crap.

I honestly can't see how a person can dismiss this album completely.I mean,it's no 'Thriller' but I think it's a solid R&B/pop album with several great songs. Can you really dismiss a song like "Butterflies"? Or something as intoxicating as "Whatever Happens"? Are you telling me that a song as beautiful as "Heaven Can Wait" is crap? Imo,these are some of the best songs he has done since 'Off The Wall'.

I really didn't like this album. Basically, a lot of the ballads were soft and boring while the upbeat tracks were just repetitious beats and had no flow into a real song. Because of this album I know make it a point to try and avoid anything produced by Rodney Jerkins. Some awful stuff! Michael Jackson made the most expensive album ever (by most accounts) yet it sounds like one of the cheapest. The beats are on a loop, for music's sake!

I agree with David Eye. There's absolutely no way you can listen to tracks like Heaven Can Wait, Whatever Happens or Speechless are just dismiss it as 'crap'. A good album takes more than one listen to truly appreciate and Invincible truly is his most soulful album since OTW.

This CD became one of my beer coasters almost instantly...Rodney Jerkins is a poor man's Teddy Riley at best...an overpaid studio hack at worst...listen to "thriller" "off the wall" or even "dangerous" for that matter...In comparison "invincible" is flat and derivative...not at all living up to its title

I can't understand this hatred of the "Threatened" track. Do you have any idea how much work must have gone in to just piecing together the Rod Serling rap? I think that's a brilliant track. Just enough of a hint of "Thriller" to be an hommage and yet an updating of the concept at the same time. Could've made a killer Halloween video as well.
that was a Very Dated New Jack Swing Track like 12 years too Late IMHO.

No one was putting out anything like "Threatened" 12 years ago.

It is such a shame that it's been instantly dismissed. If it were given the promotion, or at least single releases, a lot more people would have given it more time to adjust to them. Thriller got a handful of god awful reviews in December 1982. 6 months later the critics were shut up. 20 years later every retrospective review gives it 5 stars.

Come on guys, it's not like all of Prince's music is instantly enjoyable and catchy like all the silly pop ditties getting radio airplay these days. That's why the industry is in such a state with songs being treated like fast food.

But saying that, Invincible is by no means my favourite MJ album. I just think it's a patchy R&B album with some GREAT music on it, that could have been more solid if the track order was re-arranged and a few songs were cut. It's certainly a LOT better than most of the so called hit albums of the last few years.

Just seen it in a store for £3.99, same price as Come.
Having already bought one of those and realized its worth was less than £3.99, I decided not to bother.
Wackys umbrella activities are far more interesting than his albums

I couldn't agree more on that Rodney comment but am I the only one that loved "Bad"?

The one thing that really irks me is that MJ didn't get enough props for his vocal work on Invincible. He's singing better than ever. Particularly on Break Of Dawn, Heaven Can Wait, You Rock My World, Butterflies, Speechless, Don't Walk Away and Whatever Happens.

No. We're just not blinded by MJ's every move (or moonwalk).
As a childhood fan of The Jackson Five/MJ, I can honestly say that Invincible is his worst output as a solo artist. After
Rock You World, Buttlerflies, Break of Dawn and 2000 Watts, the rest is filler. If this is the best the MJ could come up with out of 60+ potential tracks for this CD, he's come down from his peak.

And Whatever Happens is not something that Prince would drool over.

I am a pretty big MJ fan (see the avatar) and even I thought this album sucked. Believe me, I gave it plently of time to "grow" on me. I even put it away for a year and came back to it and it still did nothing for me. I didn't like History either, but at least that had a few great songs (Stranger In Moscow, Earth Song, You Are Not Alone).

To those of you defending the album, if all of those MOR ballads had been released by another R&B artist, like Usher, would you still think they were so great?

I'll always respect him as a humanitarian, but musically speaking he hasn't done anything really interesting since Dangerous, IMO...

End.

Butterflies is the crown jewel of this album, but while I'm definitly nothing more than a casual fan at best, I think it's OK. Nothing to write home about, but not garbage

For any new kid off the street, this would've been a decent album. But for the supposed "King Of Pop"...it was disgraceful.

Besides "Butterflies" and "Rock My World" the rest is all over-produced filler material.
