I still count them though. They used synths too, even though they hated that sound. giggle

It's like...Andrew McCarthy doesn't usually get acknowledged as a "Brat Packer", but he was.

I'm with that. Songs Of Freedom is all I've really needed. That is a fantastic set.

I'm tired of people that don't know shit about music....that music store employee who had never heard of Sly shoulda been fired on the spot...come to think of it, you should have to pass a music history test to work at a freakin' music store.

Agreeing 100% with you, especially with the Music Store employee thing, when i was in music retail we schooled people that took a job there, how the fuck do you not know Sly Stone, we used to test new employees with that stuff till they told us we couldnt use that to hire people.

Seriously, when that lil girl went to look him, up in the computer, she didn't even know how to spell his name. The older cat who took over and was trying to assist me was acting all nervous and shit. I guess he was embarrassed for his young coworker.
lol This is kinda funny when you think about it.

You know, I recently caught this band on MTV called "hellogoodbye". They're not the musical visionaries or revolutionaries that we're all anticipating. But they do sound slightly better than half the crap they play on the station. They mix nerdy Alt-Rock/Math Rock with electronica with not-so-bad results. Think Weezer meets Chemical Brothers.

But of course, you're gonna say they suck since they're on MTV. And any act on MTV should be avoided at all costs. lol

I've heard a lot of their songs and they do have some good, catchy little songs...but I saw them "perform" live on tv once or twice and they were absolutely horrendous, horrible as hell...they looked like a couple of guys who have been playing their instruments for 2 or 3 months and decided to enter their high school talent show...yes they were that bad.

NEW RANT:

Why is it that now it's so cool for a lot of these up and coming bands to look like absolute nerds...it's outta hand...I mean they just look so wimpy and nerdy and they purposely try and dress like absolute shit. I don't know, it's annoying...they can't play their instruments, they look like total p***ies, sorry but it gets on my nerves...it seems like being lame is somehow cool, and I couldn't disagree more. Hope that made sense.

I'm am so sick that emo-fag Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy. He's not even the fucking lead singer of the group, but he HAS to be the attention whore. He's the face of the group that you see in the media the most. Not the lead singer. I guess the acutal singer (Patrick Stump) isn't that good looking enough to be the eye candy of the group. lol

Apparently Morrissey has a very large Latino following, especially in the Southwest U.S. California mainly. So howcome I don't know any latino Morrissey fans? confuse lol

OK, I'm kidding. I know maybe a couple, but they're from Texas. But very few of my hombres here in NYC are into Moz. Most of them...hell, damn near all of them listen to Metal like Metallica, System of a Down, Korn, Tool, etc. confuse But then I bring up The Smiths and they're like...shrug

Seriously, I'd like to meet some more latino Smiths fans. Hell, how about some Black ones too? I can't be the only one. lol

With all the reissues that are happening now, I'm bummed that no one has thought to reissue their songs in .kar format.

I'm serious. You are out karaoki-ing "It's the End of the World As We Know It (and I feel fine) at some bar that you usually don't frequent, and their version has Leonard Bernstein instead of Breznev & it throws you off your game (good luck recovering yourself). Where is the standardization?

That's not all.

I don't want to sing 'Purple Rain' by Prince or 'Bullet With Butterfly Wings' by the Smashing Pumpkins. What I want to sing is "It" by Prince or...some other S&P song that isn't available (they don't let me do BWBW anymore). You get the picture. Gool luck finding Pavement or the Afghan Whigs at your local bar.

I am fed up with Santana constantly doing duets and collaborations, he is a genius , why is he linking himself with will.he.go.away and the Nickelback guy who looks like a poodle.

Why do so many people on here love Madonna??

Fall Out Boy are pathetic, period.

Morrissey is brilliance, instead of Bono being everywhere being in the politics it should be Morrissey (though the Hate meat-eaters thing may be a tad over-the-top).

No more reunions of past-it bands ie The Police, etc. What is needed is for people to 'go underground' and actually look for good new music, it is there waiting.

That's my rant for this hour done

I don't understand these rappers, whoever the hell they are, that make that song "Party Like a Rock Star". They seem to think it's a trendy thing to like Rock when they used to think it was a "white's only" affair. Do they not understand that Rock & Roll is Black music. We created it just like every other great American musical form. But these rappers mock the genre and make it seem like a White thing by saying "totally dude". I don't get it. disbelief

I'm too lazy to get into the whole "Blacks playing Rock & Roll as a foreign concept to some" thing. That's just too long to rant about.
