These are moreso random thoughts than rants:

Michael Henderson is so underappreciated and underrated. sad

Video killed the radio star. confused

I like Disco music. What was so bad about it?

Will black bands ever make a comeback?

some random thoughts.....

Get rid of MTV,Vh1 and BET and form a new Video network funded by the artists.
R&B needs an overhaul in marketing.
Motown records needs to stop as a label
a-Ha is the most overlokked band over the last 20 years, if it werent for them you'd have no Coldplay and other bands like that.

Starbucks should take over and open tons of retail music shops and get rid of these BIG BOX stores that suck ass.
Girls Aloud should take over amercia and slap all these girls that think they are POP.
STOP calling every new artist or band the GREATEST BAND EVER after only one fucking CD!!
Everyone needs to realize that most artists make better music when they are older

I agree! trust me i wasnt kidding, And dont put it past one of Girls Aloud to punch out another girl, didnt Cheryl Tweedy (girls aloud) beat down Charolette Church? I know Cheryl hit some girl at some point, and other girls are all willing to mix it up.

Im just having a wonderful image right now of Cheryl Tweedy punching Riahnna in that giant forehead of hers and knocking her out.

This entire thread is the bomb!

My rant...

I'm so grateful I was born in 75 and got to absorb all the great music that was out there while I was growing up.

I'm so grateful that I got hip to all the incredible artist that were around before I was around...I'm still going back to those guys and learning.

I'm so grateful I'm not growing up right now cuz 99.99999% of what's out there right now is straight-up shit....maybe more than that.

The new Prince album is really great...not a classic but highly enjoyable.

Sananda Maitreya....INCREDIBLE ARTIST!

I'm tired of people that don't know shit about music....that music store employee who had never heard of Sly shoulda been fired on the spot...come to think of it, you should have to pass a music history test to work at a freakin' music store.

I fucking hate reggaeton with a passion.

I hate the fact that all the new bands out there can barely play their instruments. In the 80's and early 90's (and of course before that) most bands consisted of great musicians, regardless of what genre of music they were playing.

MTV is shittier than shit.

Damn you VH1, your reality shows keep getting me hooked!

Okay, I'm good for now. biggrin

Agreeing 100% with you, especially with the Music Store employee thing, when i was in music retail we schooled people that took a job there, how the fuck do you not know Sly Stone, we used to test new employees with that stuff till they told us we couldnt use that to hire people.

And totally agreeing on the time period thing, i grew up (teen years) in the early 80's and that was the time to be around. Mtv actually meant Music Television

Just a few things to add to the ranting.....

No more COLLABO's
The term Producer cannot be used on Timblaland or anyone that uses Beats
Emilio Estefan needs to get some sort of Lifetime acheivement award for all he did for music and continues to do.

Mariah Carey has the Best Legs in music, all right thats not a music rant, but fuck it we all know she can sing already, if she didnt want me to check her out she wouldnt dress like that.

People need to start to realize that just because it sells in the US, the world market is far more lucrative for artists. THE USA does not rule anymore, especially musically.

hmmm I'm gonna just post some thoughts and questions, and a few rants wink

***Has anyone noticed that, since the Imus controversy, most of the foul-mouth rappers are missing in action? Haven't heard a word from Ludacris,Nelly and the others hmmm I wonder if they will continue writing their "bitches-niggas-and hos" lyrics?

***I never thought there would come a day when I would buy a new Prince album and the slow jams are the highlights lol "Future Baby Mama" and "Somewhere Here On Earth" are the only songs that I really, really like.

***I wonder when we will see a Sly Stone biopic?

***Why do some artists take five or more years to make a CD? That's ridiculous.I feel sorry for fans of D'Angelo,Eryka Badu,Maxwell, etc.

***That recent Maroon5 single stays in my head...I gotta check out their CD!

***I can't stand P.Diddy, but why am I always watching his "Making The Band" show? nuts

***Is there any artist that Timbaland wouldn't work with? Any day now,I expect him to announce that he's producing the next Barry Manilow CD,lol.

***After Beyonce finishes her current tour, she should take a year off. These last two years, she's been all over the airwaves,on TV,on the award shows,on the movie screen.Time for a break,or people are gonna get tired of her.

When are these dead asses going to get off their asses and make some damn jams? For a generation that likes to look and act so damn hard, all the music they listen to is as slow as the traditionally nerdy, dorky, "Waldo" type music such as classical music. Their music is also as slow as people we made fun of in the 1980s such as Barbara Streisand or Neil Diamond.

What a bunch of dull dead asses. The generation before me caught pure hell bringing harder faster music in (the rock and roll era) and getting away from slow dull shit (classical music) and these dead asses today are going backwards to the days of "slow" rather than moving forward with more hard stuff.

You know, I recently caught this band on MTV called "hellogoodbye". They're not the musical visionaries or revolutionaries that we're all anticipating. But they do sound slightly better than half the crap they play on the station. They mix nerdy Alt-Rock/Math Rock with electronica with not-so-bad results. Think Weezer meets Chemical Brothers.

But of course, you're gonna say they suck since they're on MTV. And any act on MTV should be avoided at all costs. lol

Just because something is slow that dosen't mean it's boring or nerdy! mad
There's alot of classical type stuff and ambient music that is amazing!

It is true tho that most of the music made these days is total throwaway crap. Especially shit hop and indie stuff, it's an absolute shambles!

I love some slow music. However, I hate for everything to be slow music and that's the way it is on the radio these days....everything is slow or either midtempo.

I have respect for classical music. However, I will use it as a way to piss shit hop lovers off by comparing the tempo of their music to it, because like it or not, when growing up, classical music was considered a nerdy, dorky type music and people would make fun of you if you listened to it. Most people these days, especially young people, still see classical music as nerdy and dorky. Comparing the tempo of shit hop to classical music is letting them know...."Why aren't you being made fun of for listening to something like shit hop? You should be. It's just as slow as classical music".

If people really love music, educate yourself. I mean there's decades of music that, like history, repeats itself. To be able to look at a historic timeline, indentify what else was happening at the time, how technology and social changes influenced music is not only a good idea, it should be mandatory. Shit, you may even learn why you like what you like.

Since i worked at sam goody i can tell you from experience 99% of the time, if it was an artist i liked that poster was coming home with me, 99% of my walls are now covered with artist boards and stuff like that. As far as selling that stuff on ebay, im sure someone did, but 99% of the stuff hanging in stores gets put there by the labels and then the label takes it back and usually the reps from labels sell it on ebay, i for a fact that alot of Reps dont even bring the stuff to the stores they sell it on ebay right away, how the hell do you think ebay gets promo advances, how do you think albums get leaked?

Bono is such a ho. He likes being felt up by the crowd when he performs. lol

Pete Doherty is the new Sid Vicious.

Outkast needs to come back and save Hip-Hop.

I can tell you that after an awkward encounter, the lead singer from The Strokes is a dick.

The Undertones are a very underrated band from the Punk/New Wave era. I posted a thread about them that nobody bothered responding to.

Whatever happened to Jimmy's Chicken Shack?

The first Bloc Party album was better than the 2nd.

I didn't know that Me'Shell was so tiny. I swear, I can fit her in my pocket. giggle

Subterranean on MTV2 is the only show on any of the MTV networks worth watching.
