hmmm Let's see if I can remember:

Well, Prince did rock my world with his (2nd) best album, so that was in heavy rotation.

Also there was Sting's greatest work, "Nothing Like The Sun".

Also, you had great stuff from Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Cure, INXS, The Bangles, Depeche Mode, Peter Gabriel, George Michael, Madonna, Paul Simon, Level 42, Janet Jackson (she was still hot even though "Control" was out a year before), Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Poison, Motley Crue, Guns & Roses, (yup, I was into hair metal too), New Edition, Whodini, Squeeze, Crowded House, etc. I gotta think about more artists.

I pretty much soaked up all that was on MTV at that time. nod

Ah yes, Kindergarten. music Good times!

Madame X, Jody Watley, Morris Day, B.O.S.E., Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, Pretty Tony and Freestyle, Trinere, The Megatrons, The Egyptian Lover, LA Dream Team, etc.

Hell, it's hard to think of some more because jams were becoming so scarce by then.

doh! I totally forgot that this was the year I discovered this great Rock band from Ireland. Apparently they were at the peak of their powers with their album "The Joshua Tree". They were also all over MTV and the radio (back when the media played good stuff).

I think they're still around. hmmm

I was really into Prince's 'Sign O The Times' album.I also really liked Sheila E's self-titled album.Her best work,imo.

I was heavily into Lisa Lisa And Cult Jam's 'Spanish Fly' album music songs like "Everything Will B-Fine","Lost In Emotion" and the Prince-like "I Promise You" were hard to resist!

I was into Club Nouveau's debut album, which had been released months earlier but was still going strong in the summer of '87.

I liked The Jet's "Cross My Broken Heart",a fun single which got alot of airplay in my area.

Believe it or not, yes I was. Like I said, I was into EVERYTHING that came on MTV. Be it Rock, Pop, Alternative (New Wave was dead by then), R&B, Hip-Hop, etc. Whatever was on then was what I dug. It was all just music to me.

I think I might have played these 1987 albums a lot that summer:

Herb Alpert - Keep Your Eye on Me (haven't played this one much since though)

Beverly Hills Cop II - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (got rid of this one awhile back)

Eric B. & Rakim - Paid in Full

Exposé - Exposure

Georgio - Sexappeal

Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - Spanish Fly (also sold this one)

LL Cool J - Bigger and Deffer (no longer have this one too)

Prince - Sign 'O' the Times

Salt-N-Pepa - Hot, Cool & Vicious (another record I've since sold)

Shalamar - Circumstantial Evidence (still got this one confused )

Sheila E - Sheila E

Jody Watley - Jody Watley (sold this one a few months ago)

I can't remember exactly when I picked up the Jill Jones record. hmmm

I'm not questioning your listening to Guns And Roses. I'm questioning your listening to Guns And Roses in kindergarten. Are they appropriate for 5-year olds?

Oh yeah, Dance music was really the rage then. I remember seeing "Dirty Dancing" in the theaters and that soundtrack was a big hit. Then on the KTU station here in NYC you had stuff like Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, The System, Sly Fox (remember them?), Jody Watley, Expose, The Cover Girls, The Jets, etc. Yup, I was even into all that generic synth/beatbox shit too. lol

And then there was our introduction to the hardline according to the artist who was then known as Terence Trent D'arby.

It didn't matter, I was still into it. It was on MTV, so I couldn't look away. Hair Metal was an inescapable monster then, and G&R were apart of that.

You were more advanced than I was at 5. At that age I was still listening to crap like "Puff The Magic Dragon". Plus there was no music television in the 70s.

Man, your upbringing must've really sucked. lol

My mother was a music lover, especially when it came to Rock & Roll. She still is to this day. She didn't teach me that "Puff" crap. We were into Prince and MJ and Madonna and whoever else was ruling in music. nod

NWF, I don't doubt you. My parents played Sly Stone, Isaac Hayes, and Stevie Wonder in our house growing up. I didn't understand what I heard, but I still heard it and enjoyed it.

And growing up in the 70's wasn't all that bad. Real musicians played real music, there was Sesame Street and the Electric Company, Star Wars dropped, and saturday morning cartoons were off the meters. You had Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, Good Times, and Charlie's Angels on TV. You could wear bell bottoms, butterfly collars and afros and not look crazy, because a) everyone else was wearing them, and b) you didn't care, you were a kid.

I loved being a kid in the 70's!!!!!
