12 recent Dance videos I can watch over and over

Ok, so I'm a little too arsed to get together my semi-annual Dancefloor Report threads on the org, so I'll just throw this out there. Since I've been itching to talk about a few of these tunes.

Armand Van Helden / I Want Your Soul (2007)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=f4RWiK_cjjs
[Official, label-sanctioned YouTube video [for you org industry rats out there, it's pirate-free!]
I'm telling you, as we near the end of the Noughties, the early '90s are making a comeback more and more. Can't say I feel über-positive about this development since I really don't miss the '90s ...yet, anyway. Maybe I need to age a bit more or maybe folks like Armand need to keep hitting me over the head with great dance tracks like this -- the new single off AVH's Ghettoblaster disc.

Calvin Harris / Merrymaking At My Place (2007)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...jVCOumbXdU
Calvin Harris is a name I think about over and over and over this year. He comes up on my mp3 player all the time. I'm all over his myspace. I must have every remix I can find (BTW, the Mr. Oizo remix of this is dope) and it's just been his year, in my eyes. I think this is his best video. "Acceptable" was a little too novelty and "The Girls" was kinda ho-hum, this one is a step-up. I like the opening. Reminds me a lot of Janet's Go Deep thematically -- except there's no pizza delivery guy or people shagging on laundry machines. And, hey, why did they take out all the explicit drug references?!

Sharam / PATT (Party All The Time) (2006)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...Ct4V_0IUfM
Cheese city... and I love it. An '00s update of the classic Eddie Murphy + Rick James tune. Great spoofs of Eddie and Rick circa '84 in this vid. Why didn't I get a memo about the casting call for this? I'd love to be in the scene with faux Rick James and crew in the soundbooth busting handclaps! HA!

Houston Bernard / Say Goodbye (Kaz Gamble Remix feat. Ricetella) (2007)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...yXQ_7H0Btw
This video in particular makes me appreciate being a New Yorker. More often than not lately, I find myself as a dance music fan wishing to leave the US entirely just to experience something different and not feel fucking bored by the mainstream. Thankfully, there are underground cats like Houston Bernard kicking around the City -- equipped in the sluttiest of Ginch Gonch knickers! By the way, see how many times (and on how many different people) you can spot that same pair of freak'um drawls Houston wakes up in @ the beginning.

Slagsmålsklubben / Sponsored By Destiny (2007)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...v3M76ywCEc
This is my personal cult song of the year. NO ONE, except for some very rarrrre people outside of Northern Europe peep this song. But this is my shit. The album version is my death and I love the energy in this YouTube clip. Totally captures the song for me and makes me envious that I'm not at this show.

The Presets / I Go Hard, I Go Home (Live @ Webster Hall, NYC, Halloween Eve) (2006)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...HFPIXQ4wWg
Speaking of live shows, I LOVE The Presets. LOVE, love, love, luv, l-u-v. Ok? lol. This clip right here -- shot on Halloween Eve -- KICKS. MY. ASS. and is a PERFECT example of how crazy their shows are. And why I've seen them over four times and still need anotha fixx. The guy who shot this filmed the show we were @ a month earlier.

Groove Armada / Song 4 Mutya (Out of Control) (2007)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...lMJW4V49Yc
This was just released from the great new album Soundboy Rock by Groove Armada. I was telling another orger this, but when I watch this vid, I feel like I'm smack back in 1995. Like something I'd catch in the middle of the day on BET's Video Vibrations or something. This thing looks so dated and I love it.

TO MY BOY / I AM X-RAY (2006)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...hiSo8AvLXY
Don't file this under New Rave! Lately those two words will find blog critics turning up their snouts left and right. I don't know if I can fully classify this video as New-Rave/Nu-Rave/New Wrave, bleh! I mean yeah, it has the trappings of something New Rave -- with its total expropriation of neon, loud colors and synth beats, but if you really get into the video this can really be seen as pure '00s DIY in its rawest state. 20-something kids forming a band and posting their low-budget, friend-directed vids on YouTube. I say, more power!

The Attic / The Arrival (feat. Therese) (2007)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...0g9UwoNkYE
These guys are my heroes! I love this song, this video and their entire album "Remember Tomorrow." Their sound is so uplifting and sonically bright. It's like brushing your teeth on glacier. lol Miss Therese gives a Desperate Housewives-esque performance here and the video is total escapist fantasy. I love it.

Sneaky Sound System / Pictures (2006)
http://www.youtube.com/wa...WVDRMGkkMc
SSS are Aussie dance bandits with a knack for making a good summer single. Their video for "I Love It" is great, too, but Pictures just rubs me in that special way. I think it's because of how hot everyone in the video is -- lol. This is one of those bubbly party songs with which I can start my weekend.

Did you see that chick that looked like Sheneneh in the vid? *DEAD*

How cool would that be if Dukie braids and rope links came back?

Part of me wants them to blow up, but then another part of me wants them to be a best kept secret.

Here's one of my dodgy live camera show pics from that night.

They performed "Playing House," "King Kong" and "Bar Star."

Have you seen the video for Playing House? :: http://youtube.com/watch?v=DWwr7SXTFZE

#12!
