The question is valid at this point. The part was kind of scary because it sounds as though she may have nothing. Studiotraffic-One of the fastest ways to get payed on the net!

For the person that said she lost her voice. This video was a few months ago. Granted, her voice is not the same, but it's still beautiful and I like this performance of Ex-Factor more than any performance of it in the past.
http://www.youtube.com/wa...A7zFhtSOuI Some may think I'm crazy, but I'm not a fan of perfect voices anyway. This may be why my favorite singers are Mary J, Alicia Keys, Keyshia Cole, Kelis and etc. Studiotraffic-One of the fastest ways to get payed on the net!

It kills me when i hear her in the same breath as Aretha or any other great RB female. Dont get me wrong, Lauryn can do it, but she chooses not too, and like an AXL ROSE, she gets this credit for what she has never done. Axl Rose is looked at as some sort of Pioneer? Dude had 2 great albums and that was it, he wnet nuts, fired everyone, got fat and just did nothing. Honestly her and Axl really should just work on album together and just never release it. This is why i dont get into Fiona Apple and Amy Whinehouse cause they are both just one step away from cracking, and never recording again, to me, i want my artists to put shit out, sorry, call me crazy, but i cant get inspired or give props to albums never done, or what might have been.

While I agree that Lauren is a bit of a kook, I see nothing wrong with her statement. What U choose to call your "motherland" is a personal issue, but please don't tell black people that shouldn't refer to Africa as their motherland. "if you live in the past, you're not really living at all..... move on to another chapter" ~ Jody Watley
i will never fault anyone for soul searching or trying to understand their live and the world around them. maybe she's going through depression. but everytime this woman talks, it's always so negative or evasive. and sadly she's in, or was in, a position to show some positivity. i don't care how much "credibility" she has with people. put all that shit you have to say into an album then since you've got so much to say. but at this point in the game i could care less. if her career tanked or is tanking, she's only got herself to blame. and she should remember, that when you point the finger at someone, you've got 3 more pointing back at yourself. as far as the whole motherland thing goes..well if that's what works for her, then fine. maybe she's searching for something bigger and more meaningful than Jersey. as long as she doesn't take that whole mother-goddess-africa-is-better-than-everyone route like another person we all know. but if that's her schtick..so be it. thanks for the "Miseducation...". good luck Lauryn LOVE ♪♫♪♫ ♣¤═══¤۩۞۩ஜ۩ஜ۩۞۩¤═══¤♣

Whenever black Americans want to connect with the past/show pride in our ancestors, we get the typical response from folks like the previous poster. Every ethnic group in America celebrates their heritage(Irish, Italians, Polish, Jews, Germans, Russians, etc.), but when black folks do it, the "get over it" crowd starts running their mouths. I laugh at them, because they're showing how ignorant they are. ...and they know what they can kiss...twice.

The question is valid at this point. She already recorded a double-CD set album titled 'Kalumba Phase' which Columbia rejected becoz its not "commercial" enough. Plus, they wanted her to repeat the same "Miseducation" formula again and she already moved on to another page. So, I don't think we can fault her for that delay alone. I think people who doom her as crazy are just passing judgments for the heck of it, and they blew this shit outta proportion. Its clearly obvious that Ms.Hill went through some stuff that remain unkown(and still go through them) thats all there is to it. Personaly, she made alot of sense and she was talking in a matter-of-factly matter, didn't see no sign of arrogance or self-importance(then again, when you look back in history, you'll notice that ALL geniuses share this trait,,,,some we fault for having it, like L-Boogie. Some we praise for having it, like Madonna). And I love that make-up abit late 60's psychedelic-ish,,,,def different from the bland boring same ol' same ol' you see out there. P.S. I don't see anything wrong with the motherland comment, I see "somebody" is talking outta thier pile hole again, as usual.

No different than all of those Italian Americans, Greek Americans, etc who have never been to Italy and Greece and yet celebrate the connection. ( Uptown)
