BEYONCE TONIGHT AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

I know there are alot of Beyonce haters on the board, and I do agree she is overexposed at this point. But I must say, that girl is an ultamate performer for these times. She sang her ass off, and shook and danced. Tina Turner (not putting them in the same catagory-I know how sensitive you orgers can be) would be proud. Definately worth the price of the ticket. I had fun doung the Crazy in love "uh oh" booty shake with her. Fantastic.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Here's a review from the NY POST

BEYONCÉ BELLY UP
By DAN AQUILANTE
Beyoncé shows off her finely crafted carriage by prancing and dancing instead of singing at Saturday's MSG concert.August 6, 2007 -- BEYONCÉ'S on top of the world. That's why when she toppled down the stairs that serve as her concert set a couple of weeks back, the humbling spill became an instant YouTube classic.

At Madison Square Garden for the first of her two-show series that concluded last night, Miss B made it down the steps without incident and managed to put on a two-hour concert of singing 'n' posing. While the predominantly female audience will hail the show as a triumph, it was one of the weakest Garden outings she's ever had.

Her all-girl band - four brass blowers, a trio of backup singers, three drummers, a pair of keyboard players and guitars and bass - didn't sound bigger than a typical four-piece rock outfit.

The band was for show, not sound.

That could also be said for a lot of this performance, where Beyoncé showed off her finely crafted carriage by prancing and dancing instead of concentrating on the croon.

The result was that she screeched her way through the faster tunes with a nails-on-slate quality. They say Beyoncé never lip-synchs, although that might have been helpful, especially during her cringe-inducing version of "Ring the Alarm" played late in the concert.

On the ballads, she hit all the notes and kept the time, but without the big production she was a snooze. Up front (you know, in the topple zone), the crowd stayed on its feet from start to finish. But in the back of the Garden, the fans nearby would plop back into their seats whenever the pop piffled to a slow tempo.

It may have seemed that Beyoncé was having moments of dementia by repeatedly asking, "Where am I? Am I in New York?" But what she was saying was she expected the crowd to be more vocal in its appreciation. I never heard Mary J. Blige or Mariah Carey say they couldn't hear the cheers.

There were some memorable moments at this show - good and bad.

Beyoncé in her Arabian nights belly dancing routine - a total Shakira rip-off - was great, although I don't really remember if she sang.

Her between-song interludes, like the "The Pink Panther" tribute and the ballet sketch, were as cheesy as her late show nod to the film "Dreamgirls."

Musically, she hit her stride in the late show when the songs of her "B'Day" album, such as "Upgrade U," "Deja Vu," and "Get Me Bodied," were laid down. Unfortunately, the too-little, too-late equation equals too bad here.

Did I mention the belly dancing?

that is unfortunate they gave her such a bad review. I mean, she does a lot for her show instead of just walking back and forth like other artists. and most people sit during slow songs anyway. plus she has too many dates to give a one hundred percent performance every night. I am shocked she has so many dates. she has to be exhausted by now. can't be mad at her for wanting to go all out to give a lot to the people.

To many dates.... How much do you consider to many... ??? Both Madonna and Janet last outings had more dates than Beyonce.... I do think the reviewer was a little harsh simply because i was there.. I'm just saying that she did give a good show but something was missing .. I just didn't leave the Garden like damn!! she tore it up

I agree with this. It was worth every penny, but would I see her again? no. Her show is very good and she has a lot of energy, but for some reason I was never moved. I wasn't moved to stand up, I wasn't moved to sing, I didn't get a special feeling from her singing at any point, so it is weird. Towards the middle of the concert(it lasts so long) I was kind of wishing it would be over soon.

My mother left saying Beyonce is good, but you gotta see Janet in concert. The only performance that moved me the most that night was Robin Thick "Wanna Love You Girl".

Please don't get me wrong, I'm glad that I went to the show and I do have a new found respect for her, but there are things that she could work on to take it to an even higher level. Her best performance for me was MM&I.

I agree with your Mother completely... I was thinking the same thing... and the concert was too damn long... She could have left all the Destiny's Child hits out of that set..

umm...she is in the same style performer of alot of people like, MJ, JJ, M, Kylie, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and the list can go and on.

Though her shows are less selfindulgent than say Brits were, it sounds like she maybe loosing herself in trying to do too much.

Beyonce can, but her voice isn't moving. That makes them almost on the same boat.

Beyonce copies so many people... i personally won't give her full credit for being original... and I would never pay to go to any of her concerts... but if it was free and i had nothing better to do then i would go wink
