Can anyone tell me about the Live in Budapest Dangerous Tour dvd? Is it mostly lip-synching? Can anyone post a setlist if it's not too much of a bother? I'm not a big MJ fan (obviously) but I dig some of his stuff and the youtube links posted above were pretty good so I'm wondering whether the Dangerous Tour dvd is something worth getting for me...though the BAD one looks better though the release date is pretty far off.

The Live in Budapest: Dangerous Tour dvd, is crap and it's not the actual Budapest concert. I tapped the original transmission of it on BBC1 in November 1992, as it was shown in Europe first.

The DVD version of the concert was shown on HBO in December 1992, and that version is different from the original transmission because it's been re-edited with shots put in from various European concerts. So some performances of Michael singing Wanna Be Startin Somethin, She's Out of My Life and Man In The Mirror etc are filled with edited from various concerts. This gives the DVD version of the concert a very contrived look and feel.

So my advice is don't by the Live in Budapest: Dangerous Tour dvd. I own the DVD version because it came as part of the Michael Jackson: Ultimate Collection box set.

The Dangerous Tour DVD isn't in Budapest. It's actually Bucharest Romania

And just to think that I paid $50 for this on DVD a few years back on a MJ bootleg site. (The quality was great though).

Great that it´s getting finally released. Can´t wait to have it.

In answer to your question about the lip-synching, it's half mimed, half live. Don't expect the live bits to be of the same quality as the youtube links posted above though. This was five years on and the vocal decline was well underway, hence the increased lip-synching. The dancing's pretty good though.

That's what I'm talking about!! Look at that RWY, TPH, HN, and OTW, then tell me Michael wasn't the baddest motherfucker to ever hit a stage. Look how easy and free looking he is in RWY and HN. We've never seen that kind of naturalness and realness since. Vocally, all the magic's there too. I have to say though, Wanna Be Starting Something is ruined by those godawful dancers. They are pure burlesque in punk clothes. Horrible. I don't know who should take responsibility for those clowns being allowed to share a stage with the king. What was he thinking? Same goes for Lovely One I'm afraid ( a song which had no rightful place in his set by then anyway). Still, what you see right there is a standard which no one has touched since. I don't count Prince because his style is so different to Michael's. His game is more of a sly, knowing one, whereas Michael's is more of a straight forward explosion of energy.

or one of the Japan shows from the LAST leg of the tour in '89

Prince's team are all over Youtube deleting any clips almost as soon as they're uploaded. Try putting one on there. See how long it stays.

Do you know why? I've also noticed that there are a lot of MJ and Madonna clips on YouTube, but almost nothing related to Prince (except for a Verizon-related commercial and the music video for "Black Sweat").

Because Prince is a control freak.

Thank you for your reply. Too bad about Prince. I've always felt that YouTube allows the younger generation to witness some of the 80s icons at their peak.
